U11 Pro6 Cricket Festival 2017
NEWSLETTER No 33/17 18th October 2017
FROM THE DESK OF THE ACTING PRINCIPAL
PARENT INTERVIEWS/MEETINGS:
Thank you to the staff, in all phases in the school for hosting their parent
interviews in the various sections of the school. These meetings are
important as the staff and parents can plan constructively about the
academic and social development of each child. We, as staff,
appreciate the attendance of the parents at these interviews. Please
share any information that was discussed between the staff and parent so that
the child is aware of the positive input, praise or definite guidelines that need to
be implemented.
JP ART EXHIBITION:
It is encouraging to again be able to highlight another evening where we will be
displaying the artistic efforts of our learners, this time in the Junior Primary Grades
1/2/3. Thank you to all the JP staff who have been working closely with their class
for their respective individual and group work efforts. Art items will not be
auctioned off at this art exhibition. The exhibition will be held on Wednesday, 25th
October from 18h30 to 19h30 in the Barbara Franken Hall. You are reminded that
the exhibition is for adults only.
TRAVELLING BOOKSHOP:
Thank you Mrs Rubelli for organising this sale on Monday and Tuesday this week.
Thanks to the many staff, parents and learners who packed into the Drama room
over these two days. It is always heart-warming to note the genuine interest and
respect for reading and appreciation of books in general.
CUPPA FOR CANSA:
The Cuppa for Cansa Drive initiated
by the Early Act Club and
supervised by Miss Ramsay, will be
held on Thursday and Friday this
week. We thank Miss Ramsay for
her foresight in organising this fund-
raising drive which is for a worthy
cause.
I appeal to parents to please support this Cuppa for Cansa fund-raising drive.
CHINESE PAINTING COURSE:
The Chinese language and culture centre is offering our learners a painting
course which consists of 4 lessons. Special paper made of silk and brushes made
of animal hair will be supplied. Hence there is a cost of R50 per lesson. These
lessons will be conducted on Friday afternoons between 14h00 and 16h00.
Lessons will be offered to the Pre-Primary learners in the aftercare classes and to
Grade 3/4/5 in the homework centre class. The first 25 children to enrol will be
accepted in these classes.
DIWALI:
I wish all Hindu families celebrating Diwali, a happy Diwali. Enjoy the celebrations.
All learners celebrating Diwali will be marked present for one day only.

this facility please return the Waltons form with lines drawn through the pages to
indicate that you do not require stationery.

“Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always
be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started
now. With every step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and
more self-confident and more and more successful.”’

Date: Thursday 9th November 2017
Venue: Royal Durban Golf Club
Format: 4-Ball Better Ball Stableford
Our school is proud to be hosting our 25th annual Golf Day which is our most important fund-raising project of the year. The Northlands Primary School Golf Day has always been an event not to be missed by our own parents, friends of the school, our suppliers and many local businessmen.
We would like to invite you to become involved in the Golf Day by any means possible. The success of the day depends not only on your participation, but also on sponsorship. We are always complimented on the high standard of prizes, and we hope that you will be generous in supporting us yet again. There are various sponsorship and participation options available on the attached forms, one or more of which should appeal to you.
Please study the attached forms and clearly indicate where you would like to be involved. Entry forms must be returned to the school as soon as possible as we are certain that the limited field will soon be filled. Learners are to return all forms to their class educators; all other entrants and sponsors to fax the completed forms to 031 564 3501 or email their responses to [email protected].
Please note that all responses will be processed on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Once we have collated all the response forms, I will be contacting you with further information and arrangements.
On behalf of the Northlands Family we would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” for your invaluable support as we once again set out to raise funds, all of which, in the end, is put back into our school for the benefit of our learners.
Yours sincerely
