DATES TO REMEMBER: FROM THE PRINCIPAL …...
Little Athletics Clinic
Little Athletics Victoria was invited to run an athletics skills session for the Year 3/4
students before our House Athletics sports earlier this year. The visiting coach used a
variety of activities to encourage students to be their best whatever their skill level and
they discovered, in the words of the program, that to “run, throw, jump, have fun and
be healthy” was exhilarating.
The Whitehorse Primary School District Athletics team will be competing later in the
year and parents will be reminded to consider taking their children along, when the
summer season of our local Little Athletics Club in Box Hill commences their summer
program.

What a fabulous visit we had from the “Don’t Move Puppet Theatre”! Curiosity bloomed
when the children walked into the gym to see the stripy puppet theatre waiting for them.
Laughs and looks of surprise continued during three mini animal stories that kept the
children engaged. A squirting fish, a dog called Silly Billy and confused farm animals had the
children in stitches! After the show John, the puppeteer, turned around the theatre to
show the mystery behind how he performs his show. Back screens on rollers, hooks for
the puppets and how the sounds were amplified were just some of the features John
shared.
What fun was had in the workshop where creativity was encouraged! The kids had an
amazing time shaping and adding decorations to their puppet to make each one unique.
Thank you so much to all the parents that came to assist during the workshops!
