THE ORGANISATION
Tripura Adibashi Mahila Samity a pioneer NGO in the State of Tripura was established in the year
1953, by some local enthusiastic women of Agartala town, who were keen to shoulder responsibility, to help
women in the slums, hills and remotest areas of the State to uplift their socio-economic condition.
Following programmes and activities were implemented during the year 2017.
1. RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL FOR TRIBAL GIRLS :- (Sponsored by Ministry of Tribal Affairs) :-
The school started its functioning from 2008 and has got affiliation from Tripura Board of Secondary
Education. The capacity of the students are 100 nos. and cost of food, stationeries, uniform etc are borne by
Central Govt.
Beside study, students also participate in various competitions and Co-curricular activities like song,
Quiz, Essay writing, Drawing etc. This year Teacher’s Day, Annual Sports, Birthday Celebration of the
Founder of Anurupa Academy also organised. This year Smt. Chitra Deb, retd teacher was felicitated on
Teachers Day Celebration. Bharat Bikash Parishad organisad ‘ Guru Bandan o Chhatra Abhinandan’ with the
teacher and students of the school.
An Awareness Programme on Menstrual Hygiene was organised for the Sr. students of the school. Dr.
Illa Lodh & Dr. Srelekha Roy spoke in this important issue. Health checkup & medicine distribution was
organised. Yoga & Pranayam class is held on every Sunday. The students were taken to Khumlung Park for
educational tour.

2. SWADHAR GREH :- (Sponsored by Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi):-
At present 23 inmates are present in the S.S.Home. 22 inmates have been released during this year and 4
of them are working as assistant in beauty parlours. Apart from tailoring and embroidery, training courses on
artificial flower making, incense stick and candle making have been arranged for the inmates. This year Jan
Sikshan Sansthan has organized a special training on fruit preservation for the inmates. Their products are sold
locally and the sale proceeds are deposited in their personal A/C in Post office.
Doctor regularly visits to examine them and also provides medicines. New dresses were provided to the
ladies and children during Durga Puja and Bengali New Year. ONGC Mahila Samity donated Steel Almirah,
Blanket, Bed linens, Pressure cooker, Tiffin Carrier, Casserole & Thread; Needle for Embroidery. This year
they were taken to Khumlung Park for picnic.
3. RUNNING OF CRECHE CENTRES (in tea garden) sponsored by Central Social Welfare Board :-
3 nos. creche centres are running in Kalachhara, Gopalnagar tea garden under Mohanpur Block and in
Lefungapara under Lefunga block. 75 nos. children are being benefited in the centres by providing nutritional
food, medicine etc. Khichdi, dalia, fruits, puffed rice, milk, cornflakes, egg, soyabean etc. are provided to the
children regularly.

Indigo Airlines donated Cooking Materials, Toys, Mats, for the children of Kalachhara Crèche Center.
They enjoyed lunch with the children & spend whole day there.
4. JAN SHIKSHAN SANSTHAN (sponsored by Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India) :-
This project aims to organise vocational training for illiterates, neo literates and semi literates.
Vocational training like, beauty culture, machine embroidery, artificial flower making, Garments making
painting & zari work on dress materials, Jute handcrafts, Batik printing, appliqué works, toy making, fruit
preservation for women and for men domestic electrical appliances repairing, plumbing and sanitary works
etc. JSS also organize and celebrate important days and programmes according to the approved action plan of
Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.
Dr. V. Mohan Kumar, Director, Indian Adult Education Association organised a work shop with the
Director & staffs of JSS Agartala.
5. CHILDLINE PROJECT (Ministry of Women & Child Development):-
The Organisation is working as the NODAL Agency of Childline Agartala. Some of the activities
performed by Childline, Nodal are as follows.
Swachchha Bharat Programme was organised at Khayerpur Maa Sarada Shishu Niketan, Nilay Jyoti
Sebasram & Abhoynagar Nazrul Smriti H/S School. Discussion, Rally, Planting of saplings & Puppet Show
were some of the activities in the programme. Sexual abuse on children was discussed at Lankamura H/S
School & Kalachhara JB School. An Awareness Programme was organised on ‘Blue Whale Challenge was
organised for Teachers & guardians.’ Psychologist & Police Personnel were speakers. Children Day was
celebrated at Mariam Nagar H/S School with different sports events & competition.
Senior Programme Co-ordinator of Child Line India Foundation, Kolkata regularly visits Agartala
Childline Office & check the works and financial records.

6. SEMINER/ WORKSHOP/TRAINING / AWARENESS PROGRAMME ETC.
1. Tribal Research Institute, Govt. of Tripura sanctioned vocational training on Beautician Course for
105 tribal ladies in favour of the samity. Till Dec 2018, 93 ladies have completed their training in 5 batches.
After training they were given Kits & stipend of Rs.500/- .
JSS Agartala organised a taloring training for 18 ladies in Samity head office. After 4 months training
they were evaluated & certificates were distributed to them.
2. An awareness Programme was organised in Balaram H/S School under MungiaKami Block sponsored
by Tripura Police Accountability Commission. Teachers, Students, Branch Members of Uttar Maharani
Constituent Branch & guardians were present. Chairperson & members of the commission were the speakers
in the programme.
3. World Enviorement Day was organised at office complex of Lefunga Para Upajati Mahila Samity
Constituent Branch. Plantation Programme & discution on maintenance of proper enviorement was held in
which children of creche center & their mothers participated.
On 30th June a training for ICDS CDPOs & Supervisors was organised in Samity office on Child
Sexaul Abuse. Dr. Sreelekha Roy, Diroctor Childline was the spaeker.

4. On 18th Aug 2017, on behalf of the Organisation Clothes & food Items were donated to
Abhoynagarh Club for the flood affected families of the area. On 15th oct 2017 Mosquito nets, Stove, Torch,
Bag & Cooking Utencils were distributed to 40 families at Baldakhal H/S School. They were highly affected
by recent flood. AIWC has sponsored fund for this purpose.
5. To stop soil erosion at river side a Plantation Programme of Bamboo saplings was organised at the
bank of Howrah River. Sri. Pabitra Kar, Dy Speaker of Tripura Assembly inaugurated the programme at Pole
Star Club hall. State AIDS Control Society & Forest Deptt. sponsored the programme.
6. On 10th Sep 2017 birth day of Anurupa Mukharjee was celebrated at Anurupa Academy.The students
performed songs & dances & also prizes were given to the successful students in class examination & who
have perticipated in sports,drawing, & quiz competitions.

7. ALL INDIA WOMEN`S CONFERENCE ( AIWC Projects & Awareness Programmes) :-
Tripura Adibashi Mahila Samity celebreted 90 years of All India Women’s Conference through
various programmes & activities. On 26th August 2017 a seminar on ‘Women’s Right is Human Right’ Sri
Alak Paul, Retd. Judge, Prof. Chadrika basu Majumder & Smt. Panchali Bhattacharjee, Social Activist were
the speakers in the seminar.
On 3rd November 2017 Annual Meeting of AIWC NE Zone was held at Agartala Press Club. President,
Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer of AIWC were present. 2 Delegates from Manipur were also present.
All the branch representatives read out their branch reports & appealed for sanction of new projects form
AIWC Head Office. A colourful rally was organized in which young girls were dressed in original cultural
outfits.

On 4th Nov 2017 the main programme of 90 Years Celebration was organised in hall no 2 of Agartala
Rabindra Bhawan. B.K. Kabita Behenji remained as the Chief Guest of the programme. Veteran Members of
the branches were felicitated with Risha, Flower Badge & Chandan Tilak. A souvenir on N.E branches in the
name ‘ Uttar Purba’ was unveiled by President AIWC. Vice President Shikha Mitra thanked all the
participants.The programme concluded with Bihu Dance of Assam & Hajagiri Dance of Tripura.
