Solutions provided by TYC database:
Why a database?
Issues of supply chains:
• Biomass supply chains long and complex – data that is transferred along entire supply chain often not complete or lost
• Delivery notes not complete. Trouble for buyers to get all information needed
• Double counting material: New requirements on double-counting biofuels, which are very high regarding audit and data delivery
• In other sectors like food, feed or chemical and technical applications requirements regarding traceability, product identity and security are increasing
• Fraud cases with incorrect claims regarding e.g. amount, sustainability information
System, where relevant data is automatically transferred step by step from origin of biomass to end-consumer
Tool for automatic provision of all proofs to legal authorities and verification bodies. Processors can easily prove compliance with specific requirements of different European Member States
Database offers security of a closed data transfer of certified volumes and relevant sustainability information along entire supply chain
What is TYC?
Independent database for collection, documentation and transfer of information on origin and sustainability of product volumes step by step along biomass supply chains
Certification by one of the EU or national authorities recognized certification systems is a prerequisite for the use of the system, but additional certification efforts are not required
It is not limited to “double-counting” material but can be applied for all biofuels, bio-based products, food and feed
The TYC database offers increased security for buyers. Relevant product information is transferred along the supply chain in a closed system

TYC database • Upload of account data (points
of waste origination) • Upload of documents (e.g.
delivery notes, waste transfer notes, self declarations)
• Upload of batch data (ingoing raw material from points of waste origination)
• Generation of reports • Online verification of product
and account data by auditors possible (access to user account only on users behalf)
Transport
• Account data collector • Documents - Self declaration - Waste Transfer Note
• Batch data (product) - Entry date - Identification number - Quantity and supplier - Origin
Example of double-counting material
TYC database can handle conversions and provides consistent documentation of batches complying with Member State requirements

Benefits of TYC
Credible and traceable sustainability proof
Increased security for buyers that the product complies with sustainability requirements
Security of a closed system, covering feedstock origination and all processing steps. Fraud cases are prevented
Fulfillment of Member States’ double counting requirements
Virtual harmonization of different Member State requirements (reduced internal effort for meeting these frequently changing requirements)
Interfaces to Member States’ databases
Enables online audits and cost reduction
Globally applicable
Next steps – partially in parallel
Pilot operation - Pilot users testing the TYC database under ‚day to day‘ conditions - Implementation of improvement point - Implementation of latest BLE requirements
