But traditional Jews still stand strongly on the original commandment that was made by

God. Of all the commandments, physical circumcision is considered one of the most

universally observed. Even the most secular of Jews who observe no other part of Judaismalmost always observe this law. In Romans 2:29, Paul wrote, “A man is a Jew if he is one

inwardly, and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the spirit, not by the written

code.” He emphasized that physical circumcision was a sign in the flesh, but did nothing to

circumcise or purify the heart. Ironically, Titus 1:10 references Jewish believers in Crete

who insisted that circumcision was necessary in order to be saved, and Paul had to enlighten

them in the fact that there were many insubordinate idle talkers and deceivers; especially

those of the circumcision.

Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, Mark 16:16, Titus 3:5, 1Peter 3:21 and a wealth of other scripturesclearly teach that the remission of sins is received and salvation made available only after

being baptized. Without exception, baptism and continued faithful living, result in sins

forgiven and then eternal life. In addition, Romans 6:4, also validates that you are buried

with Christ when you’re baptized, and then raised to a new life, because you’re trusting in

the mighty power of GOD who raised Christ from the dead.

If there is still uncertainty in the requirements of the new covenant, Galatians 5:6 states that

in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working in

love. Paul also teaches that a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcisionthat which is outward in the flesh; but a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and

circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men

but from God (Romans 2:28-29).

To conclude, Colossians 3:11 informs that there is no respector to neither Greek, nor Jew,

circumcised, nor uncircumcised, Barbarian nor Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all, and

in all . Baptism does not replace circumcision, but rather allows Christ to complete a new

and improved operation of the heart that opens a pathway for transformation from the old

man to the new man (spiritually).
