The nurse said something which
surprised him.
She said, “Tommy I don’t know if your mom
told you or not, but you’re here to get a very
special kind of a superpower!”

The nurse explained that there are terrible
invisible bad germs that sneak around trying
to make kids sick.
They try to ruin birthday parties and they
don’t want any kids to have any fun.
5
Getting immunized is like getting
an invisible “force field” which the
bad germs just bounce off of.
6
The nurse explained that it’s normal
to feel nervous about getting your
superhero boosters. She said that even the
greatest superheros of all times have been
a little nervous.
But it only takes a few seconds to be done
and then the superpowers start to work!
7
“Those are great powers to have,” said the
nurse, “but the powers I’m about to give you
are even better because they help you fight
off bad germs so you can be healthy!”
Tommy asked if he’d be able to pick up
a big truck, or jump onto the top of a
highrise building.

Less than a minute later it was done
and he felt really proud of himself!
It was now time for Tommy to get his
immunizations. He knew it was a good idea,
but he also knew that it would be good if he
sat really close to his mommy so she could
help him be brave.
9
The nurse put leak stoppers on the spots
where the superhero powers had gone in.
She said the bandaids were kind of like
superhero badges.
10
He knew that he was protecting himself
and the people around him by fighting off
terrible invisible germs!
Tommy was glad that he got his
immunization booster power!
