An industry-leading, virtual reality welder training simulator featuring MIG and STICK (MMA) applications. The Weldability Sif Virtuweld VR welding simulator is an educational tool designed to teach and provide the necessary training of underpinning techniques related to MIG and STICK welding, within a safe virtual environment. The Virtuweld VR promotes the effective transfer of welding skills to a live welding environment while reducing the cost of classroom/workshop consumables such as metal, gas and wires.
By providing a safe virtual environment in which to practice welding, Virtuweld VR enables students to master basic welding skills and learn industry-standard welding techniques at their own pace. The welding simulator sets parameters and guidance when doing simulated welding for techniques including travel angle, work angle, speed, nozzle-to-plate distance, and straightness. Students’ Virtualweld VR assignments can be recorded with video playback so learners and instructors can monitor progress and provide personalised feedback.
This training method can be used for welding instruction, not only to improve welding techniques and proficiency, but also to engage participants and encourage them to enter a career in the welding industry. Ideal for STEM events and exhibitions.

Virtuweld Live

Virtuweld Live guidance systemAssisted live welding & instant feedback
Virtuweld Live is a welder training and educational tool that provides an interim step from simulation to unsupervised real welding. The live guidance system helps users maintain proper welding position, speed and technique whilst welding using real MIG welding equipment.
The Virtuweld Live system provides users with immediate in-helmet feedback on three core aspects of welding technique: speed, work angle and travel angle. This real-time feedback occurs inside the welding helmet and is set in the user’s peripheral vision, so both the feedback and the weld puddle can be monitored simultaneously. By monitoring feedback, the user can see – while they weld – whether they need to correct their speed, work angle or travel angle.
Virtuweld Live connects to any MIG welding torch. The rig and helmet require no external power so are completelyportable.
The Virtuweld Live welding guidance system provides real-time feedback on work angle, travel angle and arc speed during live MIG welding.

Curriculum Development & Delivery
Course Reference Code: WBQPS002Please contact us for booking information
OverviewWelding is a challenging subject to teach both in terms of underpinning knowledge and practical skill development. The industries that require welders and welding operators vary from oil & gas pipelines to manufacturing assembly and each industry has its own specific requirements in terms of skills. Through our partnerships with industry leaders and colleges Learn to Weld is able to offer curriculum development services in order to aid institutes to deliver both underpinning knowledge and practical skills programs that meet a wide range of awarding body requirements. Our support consists of:
• Schemes of work packs • Training aid products• Lesson plan masters • Professional development for instructors and lecturing staffSuitable ForColleges and private training institutes delivering welder training programs.
Learning AidsA range of learning aids designed to be used to deliver teaching through tactile media, including:• Weld defect samples • Presentations• Torch cut-a-way kits • Handouts• Regulator cut-a-ways • Checklists • Joint configurations • Videos• Wall Posters • Best-Practise examples• Electrode flux powders
Delivery EfficiencyInstructors and lecturing staff have to spend too much time developing curriculum paperwork and this can reduce the available time for teaching. This happens for each qualification across all of the centres delivering that particular qualification. Through our standardised curriculums we are able to reduce this heavy burden on the teaching staff, improving training efficiency and hopefully trainee achievement. Along with our instructor and lecturer continuous professional development programs we hope to continuously improve the learner experience.

The Weldability Sif FoundationThe Weldability Sif Foundation is a charity, registered in the UK (#1142419), which was formed in 2012 with the specific objective of facilitating an increase in the provision of vocational welder training at FE colleges, UTCs, universities, schools and academies across the UK and Ireland. In order to achieve this objective, The Weldability Sif Foundation makes a series of grant payments to institutions each year, by way of matched-funding, against capital equipment purchases and ongoing curriculum delivery costs. Centres operating ‘welding studios’ which deliver vocational welder training courses meeting the required criteria are able to submit applications for grants annually over a five year programme. Since its inception, The Weldability Sif Foundation has supported over 30 institutions in commencing – or expanding – their provision of welder training. These ‘welding studios’ have subsequently delivered over 4,000 welding qualifications, to the suite of Awards, Certificates or Diplomas developed by EAL in partnership with The Weldability Sif Foundation. If your college, school, UTC or academy is planning or reviewing its welding course provision, why not enquire whether The Weldability Sif Foundation is able to offer assistance? Visit www.weldability-sif.org for more details.
