A candle is burning, a candle of peace, a candle to signal that conflict must cease;
for Jesus is coming to show us the way;
a message of peace humbly laid in the hay. Call to Worship A voice cries out: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed; and all people shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken."

To Confess Our Sins and Receive Forgiveness Call to Confession Prayer of Confession Lord God, forgive our clouded memory; In the dark crevices of our hiding we forget how you
said, "Let there be light." In the confused turns of our choosing we forget how you said, "You
shall have no other gods." In the lonely corners of our living we forget how you said, "to us a
child is born." Fulfill in this place today the truth you spoke so long ago. We pray in the name
of Jesus Christ. Amen.
