1.1 Hardwarerequirements
• Personal Computer with > 300 MHz Pentium processor minimum.
• 1 GB RAM memory.
• SVGA graphic card with 800x600 resolution.
• CD-ROM reader.
• Mouse.
1.2 Softwarerequirements
• Windows XP 32BIT, Windows Vista 32BIT, or Windows 7.
• Microsoft™ framework.NET 3.5 SP1.

1.HardwareandSoftwarerequirements
To install the TiPolyxMemoryDisplay software proceed as follows:1. Insert the CD-Rom in the CD drive;2. Select “Install TiPolyxMemoryDisplay” from the main web screen that will appear;3. The installation program will start copying the system files needed for the installation of the
TiPolyxMemoryDisplay software.
2.Installation
Warning: The TiPolyxMemoryDisplay software is the fundamental tool for the configuration of the Polyx Memory Display 344163, which, for convenience, will be referred to as device in this manual. The content of this software is protected by exclusive rights owned by the company BTicino SpA.
3.Fundamentalconcepts
Warning: For correct TiPolyxMemoryDisplay software operation, the device must be installed following the instructions contained in the instruction leaflet supplied with the product.
The TiPolyxMemoryDisplay software lets you confi gure the device.Depending on the installer and user’s needs you can start with a new design or edit an existing one.In this manual all the examples refer to a “new design”.
Tocreateanewdesign
• Run TiPolyxMemoryDisplay.
• Make a new design.
• Send the data to the device
Toeditanexistingdesign
• Receive the current confi guration data from the device.
• Make any modifi cations.
• Send the data of the design made to the device
With TiPolyxMemoryDisplay you can update the device firmware version (Add fi rmware) with new revisions issued by Bticino.

3.1 Startscreenandpushbuttons/menufortheselectionofthefunctions
After initialising the program the start screen will be displayed. From here the user can:
• Create a new project
• Open an existing project
• Acquire the configuration from the device
• Display the information on the device
• Update the firmware
• Select the language
When creating or opening a project, the main screen appears, from where the user can perform all the functions explained below.
All the functions that can be performed using TiPolyxMemoryDisplay can be selected by clicking the icons on the toolbar, or by selecting the appropriate items from the drop down menus.The toolbar includes the following functions:
Creation, Open and Save configuration file
Upload, Download the configuration
Update device firmware
Request of device information
Selection of the application language
Connection to the www.bticino.com site

The pull-down menu has the following options:

3.2 ConnectingthedevicetoaPC
To perform the Downloadconfiguration, Uploadconfiguration, FirmwareUpdate and Requestdeviceinfo functions, the user must first connect the device to a PC, and ensure that the correct port has been selected.This operation must be performed as follows:Connect a USB cable to the miniUSB connector of the device and a PC USB port.
To ensure that the communication is successful, the Polyx Memory Display must be connected to the BUS, and must be powered.
No connection to the Polyx Memory Display is necessary when creating and saving a project.

3.3 Download
It allows the user to send the project created to the device.
Procedure:• Connect the device to a PC as shown in the corresponding section.
• From the Tools pull-down menu select Download.
The following window appears:
• Select Next.
• Select the Serial connection mode and click Next.
• Select the COM port to which the device is connected.

3.4 Upload
It allows the user to receive the configuration from the device; once the configuration has been acquired, this can be changed and saved, or it can be resent to the device.
Procedure:• Connect the device to a PC as shown in the corresponding section.
• From the Tools pull-down menu select Upload.
This action will open a mask for the selection of the mode of connection to the device (for the con-nection procedures see the Download section).After selecting the connection mode, click “Next” to load the project currently installed on the de-vice.
• After clicking Next the project is transferred to the device.

3.6 Requestdeviceinfo
It displays some information on the device connected to the PC.
Procedure:• Connect the device to a PC as shown in the corresponding section.
• From the Tools pull-down menu select Requestdeviceinfo.
This action will open a mask for the selection of the mode of connection to the device (for the con-nection procedures see the Download section).After selecting the connection mode, click “Next” to open a screen showing the device hardware and software features.
3.5 Updatefirmware
It allows the user to update the device firmware.
Procedure:• Connect the device to a PC as shown in the corresponding section.
• From the Tools pull-down menu select Updatefirmware.
The following screen appears, prompting the user to search for the folder containing the firmware file with extension .fwz (compressed file).
• Select the file and click Open to continue.
This action will open a mask for the selection of the mode of connection to the device (for the con-nection procedures see the Download section).

4.Mainscreen When the application is started, the main screen is displayed. This consists of 3 separate areas: Project items, Display, and Property/Project.
The top section of the screen shows the menus and pushbuttons used for the management of the project; The centre section, split into three areas, is where the configuration of the device Home Page is performed.

4.1 Projectitemsarea
In this area the user can select the objects that will be included in the pages and sub-pages of the device.
The objects are split into the following categories, based on their functions:
• Communication• Homeautomation• Advanced.
Click the corresponding label to make the category objects available.
4.2 Displayarea
The Display area shows the future setup of the device Home Page.This page consists of 6 icons. The f t 5 can be customised. The last one is the Settings icon (which cannot be customised or removed).
The full list of the available objects and their configurations can be found in the relevant sections, while the modes of use are described in the HomePage section.

4.3 Property/ProjectArea
This area is split into two sections, which can be selected by clicking the labels in the bottom area. The Property section shows the configuration fields for the object currently selected in the Display area.
The Project section displays the objects by page in a tree menu format. In addition to selecting the objects, the user can also navigate through the project, selecting any available sub-pages.

5.Projectconfiguration
The configuration of a project may be completed in different ways, for example by creating a totally new project, and uploading it on the device, or, after acquiring, and if necessary modifying, the configuration of the device, by saving the project in the PC and exporting it to the device at a later stage. It is also possible to export a project in .csv format, and then import it in Microsoft Excel ®.
5.1 HomePage
Using the Home Page it is possible to create the device Menu. To do so, drag the objects from the Project Items area into the Display area, and configure them in the Property/Project Area.
Sub-pages
Some objects are used for connection to other pages, where correlated objects are grouped to-gether (e.g. Scenarios).

When one of these objects is included in the Home Page, the arrow will be highlighted, to indicate that a sub-page has been added. Click this arrow to access the new page, where further objects could also be inserted.In the tree structure, these objects are marked with the icon.

7.Ringtoneconfiguration
It can be used to link a ringtone to an event (e.g. a call from an entrance panel). It is possible to use the ringtones already included in the software, or to create a customised ringtone using an audio file on the user PCThe ringtones created are then saved in the software, and will therefore be available for all projects.

7.2 Creatingaringtone
Once the project is completed, the following screen appears:

Select an audio file (.mp3, .wav, .pcm).
Click Open.
The audio file is now loaded and can be seen in the upper window.

Use the zoom bar to display the track section in details.
Move the cursor to the time bar, click and hold down the left mouse button to set the ringtone length; the software will au-tomatically resize the ringtone (5 seconds max).
Click and drag the selection to select the part of the track to use as ringtone.

The ringtone is now saved in the software, and can therefore be used for other projects.
The ringtone can be played in the lower window. Press “Confirm” to import it in the project.
The ringtone can now be saved clicking the pushbutton.

8.Projectcreationprocedure
This chapter shows an example of a project; the example requires the programming of the Intercom, Sound system, Scenario, and Alarm functions.These functions have been selected as they show the various types of possible configurations.
Step1
Drag the Intercom object inside the Display area
In the Property area, use the mask that appears clicking the key to configure the address of the handset to which the call should be forwarded, and if necessary customise the description.

Click the Home automation label to access the Sound system object and drag it in the Display area.
In the Property area, configure the sources and the amplifiers to control using the device, entering the address, the description and, for the sources, also the type.

Step3
Drag the Scenarios object in the Display area, creating a connection to a sub-page where to group some scenario management objects. To make things easier, the configuration of these objects is performed as the last step in the ex-ample.
Step4
Now drag the Alarms function inside the Display area.
Use the Property area to customise the description of the zones and specify their actual presence in the system; no other configurations are necessary as the device will collect all other information directly from the burglar alarm system central unit.

Drag the Favorites objects in the Display area, creating a connection to a sub-page in which to group frequently used objects.
Step6
The first sub-page to configure is the Scenarios sub-page. Insert the Scenario Module and the Sce-nario Central Unit objects, and configure them using the property area.
Click to proceed to the configuration of the pages and sub-pages as well as the configuration of the objects they contain. Sub-pages are shown in chronological order.
