STUDENT RECOGNITION Congratulations to Christie Hoeye, Marana High School student,
who was selected as 1 of 5 Military youth honored as Our Military
Kids of the Year awardees in Washington D.C. on September 8.
Our Military Kids is a nonprofit organization created to provide
support and recognition to military children of deployed National
Guard and Reserve service members, along with children of
Wounded and Fallen Warriors from all branches of service. The
grants awarded pay for fees associated with athletic, fine arts, and
tutoring programs. Our Military Kids’ grants keep military
children engaged in activities of their choosing, helping to relieve
the stress of separation from a parent by providing a positive
distraction, minimizing emotional destabilization, building self-
esteem, and enabling academic achievement. Christie received a
grant to continue playing softball, a sport in which she had
previously been coached by her father.
FIRST ANNUAL COMMUNITY THANK YOU BREAKFAST
On November 12th PTO, Marana Alumni, and Marana High
School Administration hosted a breakfast for our community
members who support MHS. Our culinary students, under the
guidance of Mr. King, cooked a delicious breakfast. Our
Chamber Signers, along with their teacher Mrs. Ross,
entertained us. It was a beautiful event and I would like to
sincerely thank our guests who attended the event and our
community for all of your support.
