throughout the fi rst half of the semester we were giv-en verious tasks that explores different informal urban practices within different locations and situ-ations. the fi rst project was looking at street trad-ing and hawking within asia. the second project was to work in pairs, so ivan and i went to footscray to report and document the urban practices within the market setting, the train station and the local park. the third project was to play hop scotch in bourke street, we wanted the public to come and joins us and have a bit of fun. the fourth project was going down to south yarra in a group, asking questions and docu-menting peoples answers and responses. with all these mini projects this gave me an understanding of what an informal urban practice is, which then lead to the informal trading market which we traded our post cards with members from the class and also exchanged gifts to go along, i made honey joys. from that we formed groups, jose, raluh and i are worked together to explore the idea of surreal, absurd and the silly.
the surreal, absurd and the silly....installations that provoke thought
the direction that we are wanting to experience is the surreal, absurd and the silly, investigating the informal ur-ban practice within these el-ements will give us a better understanding of how to appo-arch this project. we will be testing and looking at instal-lations that provoke thought, graffi ti vs. art and swap shop. we will experiement on all these areas so we can express the fi nal outcome. the proj-ects will be conducted with-in the city centre, as we will experience all types of people that will be benefi cial to our fi nal results.
