Construction
• On the 31st March 1909 construction starts to build the Titanic.
• The Titanic was built in Belfast by a company called Harland and Wolff between 1909 to 1911 for the White star line shipping company.
Facilities onboard
• On the Titanic there was a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a squash court and many more.
• Both first and second class could use a smoking room, a reading room and more.
Maiden Voyage
• The Titanic set off on her maiden voyage from Southampton on Wednesday 10th April 1912.
• Captain Edward .J. Smith was in charge of the vessel and that should have been his last trip before planned retirement.
The Sinking
• The Titanic was struck by a iceberg on 14th April 1912.
• The ship sunk in the middle of the Atlantic and land was very far away so you could not swim.
• There was 28 people on a lifeboat instead of the capacity of 68.
• After the last lifeboat left there was still 1,500 people onboard.
Aftermath
• 2 hours after the Titanic had fully sunk RMS Carpathia came to the rescue and saved a lot of the passengers .
• She picked up 706 survivors.
• 1517 people died.
