PPRESIDENTRESIDENTSS MMESSAGEESSAGEAnnouncement
In accordance with Article V section (c) ofthe Constitution and Bylaws of the RockyMountain Region Porsche Club of America, the annual meeting of the Club will be heldon Saturday, December 11, 2004 at theSheraton Four Points Hotel, ColoradoBoulevard and Cherry Creek Drive South,Denver, Colorado beginning at 6:30 P.M.
Quite on purpose, the annual meeting coin-cides with the Holiday party hosted byMarilyn Laverty and Robert Birney whichpromises to be great fun with dancing, min-gling and the inevitable bench racing. The2005 Officers will be sworn in at that time.Challenge Series, event chair, and otherspecial awards will be presented. Hope tosee you there.
October 16 was the Joint Board Meetingbetween the AMR and RMR Boards to goover the past year and plan for the next. Bythe time the Joint Board Meeting occurs, our Vice Presidents, Andy Forberg andSusan Bucknam, and Ron Maxwell, AMRPresident, had the calendar for 2005 almost
in final form and it will become final (ornearly so) at that meeting. This raises thecontinuing concern with where we will con-duct Drivers' Education Events if SecondCreek is not available which seems likely. We still have our hopes that things couldwork out at Second Creek but we have pre-pared a schedule assuming that it won't be
available. We have scheduled more eventsat Continental Divide Raceway (Meade) anda Fall RMR Challenge Series Event atLaJunta. In addition we are negotiating a
surprise track event that we can't tell youabout yet but will when the details are final. My lips are sealed but somebody will proba-bly have told you before this article goes topress. AMR will hold two DE's at Puebloand one at LaJunta, so there will be plentyof track time in 2005. We will also have agreat variety of other events to fill up thoseempty weekends so no one will be requiredto develop any other passions or vices ifthey want to attend everything offered.
It has been a busy and fun filled year. TheClub Race was a great success. The PCASteward, Dick Lane, had many kind andwell deserved compliments to give to Jeffand Tricia Mitchell. Thank you to Jeff andTricia and all who generously gave theirtime and sponsorship to the Race. It is ahuge undertaking and Jeff and Tricia did aterrific job. I raced and had a ball.
Hope to see you at the next event.

MMEMBERSHIPEMBERSHIP MMEETINGEETING
ThursdayNovember 4Membership Meeting
Join us at the November membershipmeeting for "An Evening in Red". Clubmember and race car driver Roland Linderwill give us a presentation on this year'sPlayer's Run, a semi-equivalent to the"Cannonball Run". Roland is a long timecar afficionado, and owns several awe-
some cars, including Porsches andFerraris. A lot of the program will be cen-tered around the Ferrari he drove in thePlayers Run, and his apparent favorite, theF-40, and thus the title of the program.Even you purist Porschephiles will enjoythis program.
The meeting will be at the DoubletreeHotel, 8773 Yates Dr. in Westminster.Social hour at 6:30, followed at 7:30 byelection of officers and the presentation.
The wintertime test of driver and car takesplace on Sunday, January 23, 2005 on LakeGeorgetown, Georgetown, CO. This clas-sic venue will feature an autocross coursefor your Porsche or your other marquee ifyour baby is put away for the winter! Socome on out and see if you've got what ittakes to master course, snow, ice and what-ever else mother nature throws at us.
We'll gather at the Georgetown Inn startingat 8am for breakfast, registration and eventguidelines. At 10am, we will head out tothe course for several runs around the cone
dotted ice.Afterwards, everyone is wel-come to join usin Idaho Springsfor timed results, awards and ofcourse, food anddrink.
Rumor is thatsince our annualIce racing eventis being held
two weeks earlier than lastyear, the ice will be a smoothas a baby's bottom, slickertoo. (That's what I was told). So, sharpen those ice studsand plan on showing whatdriver and car can do.
Last year featured some out-standing displays of driftingand sliding by club members, friends from the Audi Quattroclub and other winter friction-less fans. We even witnessedthe first ever "Self-timedRun" by our own timingvehicle piloted by DaveBucknam in his VW 4WDVanagon . Incredible!
Photos from last year's event can be found, courtesy of Graeme Weston-Lewis at,http://gwl.rmsolo.org/EIS-04/index.html
So, for $20 per driver, it's cheaper than alift ticket or a speeding ticket and guaran-teed to help develop your winter drivingskills while getting pointers and techniquetips from fellow members. Did I mentionit's safer too?
Registration will at the event only and isbrought to you by those fabulous, furryGrant brothers: Grant Remington (orcadig-ital@ yahoo.com) and Grant Bayless([email protected]) . Email us forevent questions or if you are stumpedabout which vehicle to bring. More to fol-low in the next newsletter, mark your cal-endars now.

As the day dawned bright and clear onSaturday, 85+ drivers gathered to try theirskills on the fun, anti-clockwise circuit atSecond Creek. Over 20 new, never-ran-the-course-before drivers were among us.I am constantly amazed at how our Driver'sEducation program consistently attracts(and retains) new drivers who want toenjoy their Porsches in the manner inwhich they were intended. New 996's,twenty-year-old 944's, 60's 911's, ClubRace cars, the whole gamut were on hand.Fortunately, many instructors, some ofwhom were not even driving in the eventthemselves, were unselfishly lending ahand to help our new folks learn the line.As a result of their efforts and some greatdriving by all, Saturday was a super dayfor all.
My Co-Chair David Stribling and I cookedup a couple of new prizes for timed runs
on Sunday afternoon which resulted inover 60 drivers staying to run 2 lapsagainst the clock. One of these was termed"Call Your Lap", in which drivers weregiven an opportunity to write down a laptime that they thought they could run, withthe male and female drivers who came theclosest to their prediction receiving themuch-coveted bottles of Andretti Red winefor their efforts. Also, back by populardemand was the "Most Consistent" awardwhich gave prizes to those who ran 2 lapsseparated by the least amount of time.
Unfortunately, the Weather Gods saw fit tointervene and with but a dozen cars left totake their timed runs, the sky opened upand drenched the track with a brief shower. When we were able to continue, time wasshort, and it was decided to give the folksstill grided a one-lap timing run and allother drivers would have their second lapserased. Thus, the Challenge Series pointswere awarded as usual, everyone was
timed, but alas because of differing condi-tions our "Call Your Lap" award wasdeemed unfair as all did not drive the trackunder dry conditions, and "MostConsistent" was moot since only one lapwas recorded. And, oh yes, Top-Time-Of-Day went to none other than the Frickes,Walt and Kathy, who ran a 1:14.021 and1:22.116 respectively. Footnote: It's prob-ably a good thing that the "Call Your Lap"award was not given out, as it would havebeen bad form for the event chair to claimhis own prize, but I missed my lap timeguess by but .008 of a second, and wouldhave been the winner, as would haveJamey Wening for the ladies, pity that!
Thank you to all those who volunteeredtheir help. Please consider doing so if youare new to the club, it is a great way tomeet new people and learn the ropes. Justcontact Tamela Cash or any of the VP's orEvent Chairpersons; it will be a rewardingexperience I promise!

We couldn't have asked for two moreperfect days for our last opportunity to runSecond Creek Raceway. Both Saturday(clockwise) and Sunday (counterclockwise)proved to be popular days at the track, with atotal of 137 drivers and over 100 cars. All ofthe run groups filled up and registration wasclosed the week of the event. Over 100 mem-bers picked up their commemorative denimshirts, and many more were ordered.Autosport Werks brought out their new GT3Cup Car Trailer and Robert Prilika gave theride of a lifetime to innocent bystanders. Both Saturday and Sunday were wrapped upat beer thirty with refreshments courtesy ofRoger Brown at Powerhaus II.
Sunday's special twist was a paradelap around the track with all of the cars, fol-lowed by lining up the cars on the track byTamela Cash and Bob Speights for the groupphoto shoot by Kevin Farrell from the heli-copter. These two had the photo shoot sowell organized that we still managed to getthree run sessions in for everyone that day, even though we took an hour out of the mid-dle to complete the photo shoot. Seeing all ofthe cars on the track was incredible, and madeus realize how many people we really had atthe event!
To Order Group/Individual Photos go towww.cfpix.com/rmrpca and follow theinstructions on the website to order yourphoto choices in different sizes.
Thanks to all of the volunteers whohelped this event run so smoothly. The num-ber of people required and their dedication tomaking sure everyone had fun days at thetrack is a testament to their passion for thisclub. Thanks also to our sponsors PowerhausII, Colin Farrell Photography, Injection Labs,Pelican Parts, Autosport Werks, The Racer'sGroup and Greg Johnson's Eurosport Ltd.
