Fall Open House
Be sure to mark your calendar for the Fall Open House on Friday, August 15 from
9:00–10:00 a.m. for returning families, and 10:00–11:00 a.m. for new families.
Bring the medical forms completed and signed by your child’s doctor, and two
pictures of your child. You will have the opportunity to sign up for parent-help
days, so bring your personal calendar for reference. And your child will enjoy
seeing their classroom and meeting their teacher.
Medical Forms
The Student Health Record and the Certificate of Immunization are due before
school begins, no exceptions. Please transfer all immunization information from
any doctor-provided printouts to the form supplied in the Registration Packet, or
we will ask you to do so at the Fall Open House.

your check off at the school, you can do so between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on
Friday, August 1.

Parent Orientation
Parent orientation is a mandatory, annual meeting of our school corporation,
whether you are a returning family or a new family. You must sign in to show you
were in attendance. The meetings will last approximately 15 minutes for returning
parents, and 30 minutes for parents new to the school. You only need to attend one
meeting per family, even if you have more children enrolled.
Please meet in the gym after you take your child to class. During this meeting, we
will go over school policies and changes for this year. We’ll also discuss parent
helping, tuition, and snack. This is a great time to ask questions, voice concerns,
and meet other parents and the board members.
Tips for the Beginning of School
The start of a new school year is exciting, but it can be especially intimidating for preschoolers. Here are some suggestions to help your child adjust.
• Make sure to attend the Fall Open House so they can meet their teacher and see the classroom and the school.
• Make back-to-school time fun by taking your child to choose new clothes, shoes, supplies.
• Allow plenty of time to get ready for school in the morning. A calm experience at home can ease the transition at school.
• Give your child a small photograph of your family to take along.
• You know your child best. You will know what your child needs to make it a great preschool experience.
And here are a few pointers for parents.
• Please arrive no more than 5 minutes early unless it is your parent-help day. Remain in the classroom until parent-helpers have arrived. This will reassure your child and put them at ease with their surroundings. Feel free to stay until the teacher starts class.
• It is important to pick up your child on time to give them security that you will return at the end of class.
• Each child has a cubby in the classroom. Please help your child find it and
store their belongings there. This is their special spot in the classroom. Check the cubby after class for school information and your child’s work.
Where to Park for Drop-off and Pick-up
Park along the streets to the south or east, but don’t block any driveway. The church
parking lot east of the school is an accessible, convenient place to park.
Never park in the driveway west of the school, in the parking lot to the north, or in
the assisted living facility lot to the south.
Please enter the building by going through the black courtyard gate, and through
the doors on the northeast side of the playground.

Playground Workday: New Fence
We’ve reached our fundraising goal to move forward with installing a new fence!
The volunteer workday will be on Saturday, August 16 from 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Please pitch in, get your work gloves dirty, dig post holes, and install the new fence.
We will also be leveling dirt and adding mulch where the junipers were removed.
If you have a rake, shovel, and/or wheelbarrow, please bring them along. We’re
also in need of a post-hole digger to borrow, if you have one or know someone
who does.
And if you have previous fence-building experience, we also need a foreman to
lead the project. Please feel free to e-mail Mrs. Martinez or Jessica Kuhns.
Lunch will be provided for the volunteers.
Please keep in mind that there will be no child care, and children will be happier and
safer spending time elsewhere.
Thanks
Thank you for all of the extra time and energy you have put into our school!
