Address all correspondence & orders to: [email protected] (Please mention “Plant Pre-Order” & note the particular show/event or “Mail Order” in the subject line)
This list replaces & supersedes all previous lists. All orders are filled in the order in which they are received and are subject to prior sale.
PLEASE NOTE: Prices are listed in US Dollars
NEW: as of this Pre-Order List, we’ve chosen to separate the different types of Phalaenopsis into their very own sections to make finding the type of Phalaenopsis you like much easier:
Phalaenopsis Categories are now divided into:
Species, Multi-Floral Minis, Micro-Minis, “Big Lip” hybrids, Waxy (often Fragrant) Novelties
& larger-flowering Classic Phalaenopsis in new colors & patterns.
We’ve also expanded our collection of miniature Vandaceous, miniature Dendrobiums & divisions of some of our select
Paphs in addition to Miscellaneous Genera ~ all of which grow & flower happily with our Phals.
Each genus is put into their own category after our Phal. listings.
Most plants are in 2.7” pots as first or second bloomers unless otherwise noted as being fully mature in 4” pots
PLEASE NOTE: Stock quantities of 6 or fewer are noted in parens
ORDERING INFORMATION FOR OUR MAIL ORDER CLIENTS: In the winter or during inclement weather, shipments may be delayed pending more moderate weather conditions. Shipping is either
via FedEx Ground or Air depending on the final destination. We reserve the right to withdraw any offering from sale and to limit quantities. We guarantee all plants to be true to identity to the best of our knowledge. However, since many come in from Taiwan, we have to assume they are properly labeled as to their species or hybrid name. We make no warranty as to the productiveness of any
plants sold since everyone’s culture conditions vary widely.
Although we do our utmost to pack carefully, we are not responsible for damage to buds or flowers due to shipping if buyer specifically requests these plants ~ therefore, risk is assumed by buyer for buds or flowers on plants shipped at this stage
Safe arrival of a healthy orchid plant is guaranteed.
Packing & Shipping Charges:
Based on the total of your order, a minimum of 10% for packing plus the actual FedEx shipping cost will be charged. We use FedEx Ground for all 1-3 day deliveries within our delivery zone since Ground shipping rates are much more reasonable than Air.
If heat packs are requested, they will be provided for an additional $4.50.
Additional Shipping Note: FedEx charges an extra $3.50 for “Home Delivery” so many of our clients choose to have their plants
delivered to either their office or to a nearby FedEx Ship Center that accepts “Hold for Pickup” packages ~ those business/FedEx locations always get their deliveries much earlier in the day than the average Home Delivery. If you want to save the additional charge
levied for Home Delivery, please let us know if you have a business address you would like to use, or we can research a FedEx location near you that would accept a Ground or Express package as a “Hold for Pickup”.
SIZE DEFINITIONS:
PF = Previously flowered, fully mature Blooming Size plants F = Currently in flower (single spike unless otherwise noted) B = In bud (single spike unless otherwise noted) SP = In spike, just initiating to medium spike stage (single spike unless otherwise noted) BS = Blooming size (should flower in season) NBS = Near blooming size (approximately 1 year to flowering in season) S = about 2-3 years to flowering
PHAL SPECIES:
Most of these Phalaenopsis species are from Taiwan & reflect much improved forms & colors, having been sibbed or selfed using very select parents. Species like Phal. bellina, violacea, venosa, speciosa, gigantea and javanica are extremely slow to
reach maturity & can be easily lost as small seedlings so we’re only offering well-established Near Blooming or Blooming Size plants. As a result of their extra years to reach maturity, the pricing on these plants is higher than is usual for quicker
growing & more readily available Phal. species.

Phal. aphrodite subsp. formosana ‘A09001’ (4N)
(TETRAPLOID FORM of Species)
A dynamite sibbing of this favorite of all
Phal. species ! This population is a tetraploid form, producing more compact leaves and much larger beautifully round flowers with great substance, producing
a long-lasting display with a much smaller footprint than is typical for the species. Gracefully cascading spikes
make for a stunning display !
Note: We just won the IPA Best Phal in Show Trophy when we displayed this
plant with its long cascading & beautifully arranged inflorescence !

Phal. bellina ‘Red Apple’ x self
(FRAGRANT Species)
This particular selfing of ‘Red Apple’ was made to achieve fuller rounder waxy fragrant flowers carrying an intense
flush/blush over all its segments ! ‘Red Apple’ was specifically chosen for its red,
rather than pink, flush, creating a stunning contrast against the creamy
white flowers. Although slower to reach flowering size than many other Phal.
species, it’s more than worth the wait for its fragrance alone in addition to giving us a beautiful presentation during the
hotter months of the year !
We are releasing each plant of this clone as it flowers to assure they were labeled correctly since we did discover that one of this group, so far, was actually Phal.

Phal. speciosa/tetraspis ‘MS#1’
(Red color form of Species)
The taxonomists still cannot necessarily agree on the differences between Phal.
speciosa & Phal. tetraspis so we’ve noted both for this particular clone ! Both this clone and that of fma. imperatrix ‘Red’
flower with solid red fragrant waxy flowers on gently arching to pendulous
inflorescences from spring to winter. Even when the initial flowers have faded,
the still green spike will continue to produce and add more buds while at the same time producing an additional spike or two. The red expressed in the flowers is light and temperature dependent with cooler brighter winter conditions giving the most vivid red color. This clone was
selected for its evenly balanced segments, making a perfect circle within
all its tips, not to mention its intense solid red color !

PHALAENOPSIS HYBRIDS
Most of these clones are the result of cutting-edge Taiwanese breeding programs & are plants we’ve hand-selected from some of the most forward thinking nurseries during our annual trips to Taiwan to judge their TIOS Orchid Show.
PLEASE NOTE: With many of the harlequins & the red or orange novelties, differences in light & temperature at various times
of the year will cause some variation to occur in the flower color and/or intensity of their markings. Under warmer temperatures & more shaded conditions in the summer, many red novelty-type hybrids with yellow or orange in their breeding background will flower showing more of the influence of those colors. Under cooler temperatures & brighter light in the fall to
winter months, the red pigment in the flowers is more strongly expressed resulting in solid to nearly solid red flowers.
Also, many hybrids with a heavy Harlequin influence will show their boldest and most vivid colors when bloomed under cooler temperatures & brighter light during the fall & winter.
In addition, many of the Novelty-type hybrids with Phal. bellina and/or violacea in their background improve in color intensity
and size with fuller form on their 2nd
& 3rd
flowerings, as do the actual species parents.

Phal. Chia E Yenlin ’LHB08’
(Sogo Yenlin x Formosa Cranberry)
A stunning harlequin-influenced multi-floral miniature ! Its flowers are heavily suffused with harlequin spotting fusing to a dark rich burgundy (darker than our
photo shows) covering most of the flowers, leaving just a charming pink
picotee as a halo around its segments. This particular hybrid also has very attractive silvery-green foliage as
opposed to the traditional dark green leaves of many miniatures. And as first bloomers they’re already rewarding us
with 2-3 compact spikes, with those that were just cut back already spiking yet
again !

parents, it will continue to add buds to its spikes, creating a long-lasting display.
(Unfortunately the photo doesn’t begin to show the intensity of the splash-flaring is

Phal. Dragon Tree Eagle ’Red’
(Penang Girl x Black Eagle)
A sensational new color form of this very
famous hybrid ! Producing compact spikes of fragrant waxy flowers, we leave previously flowered spikes on the plant if they remain green since they’ll continue
to add buds in season in addition to producing a new spike or two. One of our friends in Taiwan stated that this is actually a clonal shift from the original
clone ‘DT168’ of Phal. Dragon Tree Eagle. He commented that it will flower
differently depending on light and temperature, with lower light and higher
temperatures producing flowers with more of their yellow background showing ~ and lower temperatures and higher light
in the cooler months would produce flowers more like the clone ‘Red’. We have yet to flower them during both seasons so we’re just sharing this
information with everyone to explain potential differences in its flowering from
one time of the year to another.

Another clone using the great miniature

“almost black” these flowers are (due to the flash reflecting back to the camera).
Mated with Yu Pin Natsume, another heavily marked harlequin mini, its rich
dark color is the result of layer upon layer of harlequin suffusion coming from both
parents, producing a thick flower with heavy color pigment and no hint of any other color. These plants have already flowered once, producing 2 branching

When we awarded this clone of OX Golden Lottery two years ago at the
Taiwan Show, it was the most outrageous splash-petal yellow we had ever seen !
And that still holds true today ~ we have yet to see this kind of breeding produce anything even close to this. Producing flowers almost 4” in size, when awarded
it was showing off with 34 superbly formed & sparkling non-fading flowers on
two branching inflorescences. In addition to receiving the highly coveted
FCC/AOS, it also was awarded by the IPA as Best Phalaenopsis in Show from over
500 entries !
SPECIAL NOTE ON THIS CLONE:
The first group of these that we brought in flowered as OX Lottery ‘OX1525’. We
were told by OX that their first run clones had all reverted to the OX Lottery parent,
the result of an unstable cloning, & suggested that we flower our second
shipment, a later cloning done to stabilize the results. So far we have flowered only 4 plants from that second group that are
true to OX Golden Lottery ‘OX1665’. And when flowered under cooler brighter
winter conditions, their splash patterning will become even more concentrated & intense, just like the plant we awarded which was flowering in Taiwan during
March, which in Taiwan is a time of cooler brighter growing conditions.

SELECT ONE-OF-A-KIND NOVELTY SEEDLINGS (to be posted as they flower):
Many of our novelty or select seedlings are flowering for the first time for us this summer ~ and with Phal. bellina in the background of many, as first bloomers they will initially produce only 1-3 flowers on their first spikes. This particular type of breeding is extremely slow to grow to maturity due to the heavy influence of the waxy Phal species in their background. For
this line of breeding we leave any still-green spikes on the plants since they will most likely add more buds to these spikes in addition to producing new spikes at their next flowering. Some people choose to remove the initial spikes & give the energy back to the plant. However, we’ve never noticed (with this line of novelty-type breeding) that it makes much difference in the overall vigor of the plant since their breeding background carries the tendency to retain older spikes. Also, with this kind of breeding, flower form, color and size improve enormously with their 2
nd & 3
rd flowerings. But ~ the real bonus to owning a
One-of-a-Kind plant is that you can give it your own clonal name !
FRAGRANT MINIATURE CHINESE CYMBIDIUMS:
All the species listed below grow & flower easily WITH our Phals under the same light & WARMER temperature
conditions since they are miniature growing Chinese species, requiring much lower light, less space & will grow under warmer temperatures than their larger cousins ~ they also don’t require the extreme chill of standard Cymbidiums in order to make their flower spikes and all tend to flower more than once a year, having no definite flowering season. One of these clones, ‘Tian Cao’, is just 6” in height – perfect for windowsill & under-lights growing !
We are particularly fond of the green & yellow flowering varieties with either delightfully compact or elegantly tall flower spikes. We’ve found that the traditional pale pink-burgundy colored flowers are just too muddy to stand out and make a statement.
The clone ‘Tian Cao’ also has the added charm of VARIEGATED FOLIAGE, meaning it’s attractive, even when not in flower ! Variegated foliage comes at a higher price because it’s greatly prized in Japanese & Chinese cultures, meaning the stronger the variegation, the more expensive the clone.

MINIATURE VANDACEOUS:
All these species & hybrids grow & flower easily WITH our Phals under the same light & temperature conditions since they are miniature growers, requiring much lower light than their larger-growing & flowering cousins. We’re growing them in deep small plastic baskets to allow their roots to dry slightly between waterings. In the winter we slip these little baskets into rose pots to allow the roots to continue to grow down from the basket, our own approach to “collaring” that Alan Koch of Gold Country Orchids does with his plants in clay pots. These are mostly miniature, & a few compact, growing species & hybrids, many of which will readily form basal keikis to become beautiful specimen miniatures producing multitudes of spikes at the same time on all of their mature growths. All the plants listed below grow & flower easily WITH our Phals under the same light & temperature conditions since they are miniature or compact growing species or hybrids, requiring much lower light than their larger cousins and needing no chill in order to set their buds – many are fragrant & can easily flower more than once a year, putting on quite a show for their diminutive size !

Dendrobium Angel Baby ’Little Darling’ AM/AOS
(Snow Baby x Snow Angel)
An adorable, and very miniature, nobile-
type Dendrobium which, when grown warmer & kept evenly moist, does not
drop its leaves ! When we received the AM/AOS on this clone, it was showing off
with 46 flowers on 12 spikes emerging from three 16cm (6.5”) tall canes. A little
stunner with FRAGRANT white flowers
delightfully set off with an apple green throat in the lip – can flower 3-4 times a year without needing a chill period like most nobile-influenced Dendrobiums. These will flower & re-flower on newly mature leaved canes in addition to re-
flowering on previously flowered leafless canes. A rewarding little mini for
windowsill or under-lights growing !
NOTE: This particular mini, despite being a Dendrobium, seems to prefer to be grown in moss with an even moisture supply. We initially grew them in bark &
lost each one ~ they love the moss !

Often called the Pansy-type Dendrobium, this type of hybrid is not often available ! What sets this particular clone apart from other Phalaenopsis-type Dendrobiums is
its broad flat lip which gives it the appearance of a Pansy in its shape.
Heavily influenced by two Dendrobium species in its background, Den.
phalaenopsis dominates for its flower size and full round form while Den.
bigibbum gives its canes a much more compact growth habit. A warm grower, it produces an abundance of long lasting
pansy-looking flowers.

Easily grown under Phalaenopsis conditions, this particular clone of

inflorescences, all emerging from just one pseudobulb ! A great exhibit plant and a stunner when in flower. These plants are
now just completing their new leafy growths in preparation for fall/winter

Of special note: We shifted our exhibit plants of Fredclarkeara into New Zealand

Habenaria rhodocheila
(Species)
We have been amazed at how easy to grow this Habenaria species has been ! Even
when not in flower, their foliage is beautifully marked. We’ve found that if we keep them just slightly moist with a light
spritzing, not wet, when they go deciduous, they produce their spring growths readily. Allowing them to dry
totally will most likely cause their loss over the winter – we know, we used to follow the
culture sheets & did just that – and they never came back ! We’ve also discovered that trying to grow them in a bark mix is
more than challenging, so we’ve switched to growing them in moss. This population
has been extremely vigorous & is well worth adding to every collection. Plus, despite our initial doubts, they LOVE
growing in the New Zealand moss ! We’ve been amazed at how really easy
Habenarias are to grow & flower – just don’t follow any of the culture sheets &
