Visit of the Indonesian Vice Minister of Agriculture to 2013 West Sulawesi Cocoa
stStakeholders Forum 1 Meeting in Mamuju, November 1 - 2, 2013
On this occassion, Swisscontact - SCPP PR Unit is assigned to cover
the visit of DR. Rusman Heriawan, Vice Minister of Agriculture of the
Republic of Indonesia (Wamentan), to Mamuju in West Sulawesi in the
framework of attending the 2013 West Sulawesi Cocoa Stakeholders
Forum hosted by Governor West Sulawesi, H. Anwar Adnan Saleh, as
part of his efforts developing local commodity of cocoa as West Sulawesi
icon. Swisscontact-SCPP staffs together with staffs from PT. Nestlé
Indonesia, the West Sulawesi provincial government and Mamuju local
government were collaborating together in facilitating the event. This
two-days event was attended by more than 180 participants derived from
diverse institutions and agencies involved in the cocoa sector in West
Sulawesi.

D'Maleo Hotel's Ballroom at 9 AM WITA, the event has begun
with the inauguration of the 2013 - 2018 West Sulawesi
Cocoa Forum (FKSB) Committee by the Governor of West
Sulawesi. Followed by forewords from Manfred Borer, Program
Director of Swisscontact - SCPP (Sustainable Cocoa Production
Program), he emphasized the importance of an establishment of a
local cocoa forum such FKSB to serve as a vessel for coordinating
and sharing among cocoa stakeholders in West Sulawesi, linked with
the National Partnership forum in Makassar and other international
networks. Further, the series of the events continued with panel
presentations and discussion by event participants such as from PT.
Nestlé Indonesia, ICRRI (Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research
Institute), Bank Indonesia, BT Cocoa, Syngenta, CSP (Cocoa
Sustainability Partnership), Aceh Cocoa Forum (FKA) and a
representative of Smallholder cocoa farmers in West Sulawesi.

In the evening at 8 PM WITA, Wamentan's group and VVIP guests
[representatives from PT. Nestlé Indonesia, Swisscontact - SCPP,
IDH, Syngenta, BT Cocoa, ICCRI] were invited by the Governor
of West Sulawesi to have a gala dinner in his official house located
on top of a hill in Mamuju. While enjoying the delicious region dishes
served by the host, all the guest also entertained with relaxing live
music. After the dinner, continued with souvenirs submission's
session from West Sulawesi Cocoa Stakeholders Forum (FKSB)
represented by Manfred Borer to be handed over to Wamentan,
Governor of Sulawesi Barat, President Director of PT. Nestlé
Indonesia, General Director of Estate Crops and Director of
Herbaceous and Refresher Plants. The highlight of the cordial
evening was the performance from the West Sulawesi Governor and
the Wamentan featuring their best singing vocals in front of the
guests of honor. Not to be outdone, as the VVIP guests were
challenged by the host to show their singing skills, representing PT.
Nestlé Indonesia, lovely duo Jenik and Nur Shilla, and from
Swisscontact - SCPP, the talented Ade Sonyville, respectively
featured their favourite songs on that memorable evening. The event
was closed with group photo taking in front of the domicile of the
West Sulawesi Governor.
