T here was a serious lack of new DVDs and
Blu-Ray out this week, hence why Madonna-directed fi lm, ‘W.E.’, is our pick of the week.
‘W.E.’ tells the story of two fragile but determined women, Wally Winthrop and Wallis Simpson, separated by more than six decades.
In 1998, lonely New Yorker Wally Winthrop (Abbie Cornish) is obsessed with what she perceives as the ultimate love story: King Edward’s VIII’s
abdication of the British throne for the woman he loved, American divorcée Wallis Simpson.
But Wally’s research, including several visits to the Sotheby’s auction of the Windsor Estate, reveals that the couple’s life together was not as perfect as she thought. Weaving back and forth in time, ‘W.E.’ intertwines Wally’s journey of discovery in New York with the story of Wallis and Edward (James D’Arcy), from the glamorous early days of their romance to the slow
unravelling of their lives. The fi lm has not
received good feedback but judge for yourself!
D ublin’s fi nest – Danny O’Donoghue,
Mark Sheehan and Glen Power – step up to the podium with their Olympic sized new album!
Fans are extremely excited about the new album, aptly title ‘#3’, which will hit stores this week.
It’s been a rags-to-riches glory ride for the three young Dubliners who took on the world, with music fashioned from the emotional history of their own hard lives raised up by a love of pop,
rock, hip hop and soul.Script front man,
O’Donoghue said he is very excited about the new record.
“We are more confi dent about our sound and have tried to fi ne tune our writing skills. Find songs that mean something and that people would like to sing out loud at a concert. We really just want to nail this new album,” O’Donoghue said.
‘#3’ includes the hit single ‘Hall of Fame’, an uplifting piano-led track that sees the
band collaborate with new pal will.i.am for lyrical twists and turns in a very emotional and inspiring duet.
This album captures as much emotion in its sound as it does in its lyrics.
