2.0 The Green Room and Cafe Brief
Our understanding of the project scope is that it includes the internal fit-out of three vacant shop units (3180 square feet in total) which were formerly a supermarket, in order to convert the space into a meeting room and cafe.
This space is intended to act as a meeting room during the 12 month consultation process for the larger package of Good Growth Fund work to the market, and the works will be designed to be re-used in the final design for the Creative Wellbeing Space.
It will operate day to day as a cafe and informal space. This fit out will require “light touch” work to shell and core, but since partitions have been built to subdivide the space, the spaces would need to be reconnected in some way. Acoustic treatment, lighting, and ventilation will be important considerations to make this a good space for discussion. The works are only to the ground floor, and not to the first floor storage space accessed from the middle unit. This will be reviewed from the autumn when the design team for the main Good Growth Fund Design contract is in place.
Appropriate mechanical and electrical fit out will be required. We would intend to activate the existing frontage of the units, and the public realm outside the units, by using window/floor graphics, cafe chairs, and lighting. This could include works to remove shutters and add signage depending on scope, budget, and planning. We would include the selection of tables and chairs, for the meeting spaces and cafe.
