Dear Church Family,
A milestone is a stone marker that is placed on the
side of a road to mark the distance from a given point. In
2015 our church has the potential of reaching some signifi-
cant milestones. One milestone we will celebrate this year
is our 85th year in ministry! Whether you were here in
those early years or if you have recently joined us, we can
all celebrate the fact that The Hill Baptist Church has
sought to make Jesus known. I trust that our celebration of
the past will fuel our passion for ministry today.
Another milestone that we will reach this year is
adding a new Sunday morning worship service. Our
church hasn’t had two Sunday morning worship services in
a long time. Launching a new worship service is a great
undertaking and requires much faith. However, if we want
to see another 85 years or more of fruitful ministry we
must be willing to take these giant steps of faith!
This year will most certainly provide many other
opportunities to walk by faith and not by sight. Are you up
for the challenge? I don’t know about you but I want God
to use me in a mighty way this year. I want to be open to
His will. I want to be more concerned with what He wants
than what I want. I want to be the person He wants me to
be. Is that your desire? If so, submit your life afresh to the
Lord right now. Tell the Lord that you want to follow Him
this year more than in years past. If we will be available to
the Lord, then I believe 2015 will be a year of significant
milestones for our church.
In Christ,
Pastor Ron Jones
Our next Senior Adult Cookie
Ministry Day is Thursday, January
15th with lunch to follow.
I want to say a big thanks to everyone
who worked so hard to make our musi-
cal, “Three Gifts”, such a wonderful
worship experience for everyone.
Jan Sutton and Connie Blanchard did
their usual amazing job leading on piano and the organ.
Our cast was fantastic! Thanks to Leah Sutton, Sharon
Jones, Billy Usry and Jonathan Beaufort for all the hard
work you did to make your characters come alive for us.
Whitney Diehl and Brant Sandifer did a great job as our
narrators and the choir, once again, led us beautifully in
the worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And
last but not least, Roy and Sharon Jones who worked long
and hard on the stage and sets. I love all of you and look
forward to what this new year holds!

2014 was a great year for The
Hill Youth! While on Winter
Retreat, I asked each student
what their THY highlight of
the year was. Here are their
answers:
Bailey: jumping in a lake fully clothed at Tallulah Falls
State Park
Billy: completing the Canyon Climbers Club with THY
this summer
Aaron: lake day at Patrick's lake house
Caitlin: painting a room in West Virginia 5 times and final-
ly getting it right
Sam: winter retreat because this is my first THY experi-
ence
Leah: reading all the notes THY sent with me to Camp Pin-
nacle
Caroline: the girls' retreat in May
Matt: West Virginia mission trip
Nathaniel: finally finishing the roof on the mission trip and
watching Luke (the homeowner) put in the final piece
For me, there is no way I could pick just one. In 2014, I
had the opportunity to lead D-Now, a girls' retreat, a winter
retreat, a lock-in, a mission trip, and somewhere around 48
Wednesday night Bible studies, as well as Sunday school a
few times too. It's been often exhausting and sometimes
terrifying, but also one of the best years I've ever had.
The Hill Youth will kick off 2015 on Wednesday, January
7, by starting a new Bible study, The Power of God's
Names, by Tony Evans. We'll learn why it's important to
know God's different names and what they mean, including
Elohim, Jehovah, Adonai, Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Tsaba,
Jehovah Rohi, Jehovah Jireh, El Elyon, and El Shaddai.
This study will also include memory verses as well as ac-
tivities the students can work on at home each week.
We don't have a definite schedule of events for January yet,
but look for events such as hiking trips, horseback riding,
movie nights, craft nights, and game nights coming soon!

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and
bear a son, and they shall call his
name Immanuel’ (which means, God
with us)” Matthew 1:23. This year, we
can fill our lives with good things be-
cause God is with us. One thing we can fill this New Year
with is prayer, thanksgiving and worship. This New Year,
we don’t have to be nervous or afraid of anything that may
happen. We can hold onto the joy and excitement of Christ-
mas all year long because God is with us! Joshua 1:9 says,
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not
be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you
wherever you go.”
Children In Action and Mission Friends will resume January
7th 2015! We will begin our Mission study on two families
living in Atlanta, Georgia!

Abbey Sandifer
