Welcome to another year of popular concerts with a past and present BBC Young Musician feel to the series.Emma Johnson is a world-renowned clarinettist who has visited Gresham’s several times over the years, but she returns in September with a pianist and percussionist in decidedly ‘jazz-mode’. Clarinet goes to Town explores the styles of music which resulted in the jazz sound at the beginning of the 20th Century. A concert with a difference brings live organ accompaniment to a showing of the silent movie Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in January with organist David Briggs and we welcome back cellist
Subscription Concerts 2018-2109
Guy Johnston for a recital in March with his long-term accompanist Tom Poster. We are delighted to bring you the 2018 BBC Young Musician of the Year, pianist Lauren Zhang. Lauren won this great accolade in the week she was taking some GCSEs back in May and she plays a Mozart Concerto with our favourite orchestra, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, who will also perform with Schola Cantorum. We conclude the series with a very exciting Russian pianist Katya Apekisheva.
To take advantage of the subscription scheme, buy tickets for all five concerts at the heavily discounted price of £82 – a saving of £52. This is an irresistible price to see such a stellar series of concerts on your doorstep. Booking is available both online immediately, but in person or by phone during term time from September 3.
We value your continued support and look forward to seeing you during the forthcoming season.

Introductions to Classical Piano
After the success of his recent piano album (released through Sony Classical), Alistair McGowan premieres a brand new show which brings together all his talents.
He will play tracks from the album and some other short classics piano pieces: from Gershwin to Grieg, Mompou to Mendelssohn, Satie to Schubert. In between the pieces, he will talk a little about the history of each piece, the composer and his own connection to the music. Expect a lot of beautiful music (with the odd mistake!), some interesting stories and a sprinkling of his trademark impressions.

Facing the Music - A Life in Musical Theatre with Patricia Routledge in conversation with Edward Seckerson.
It is still one of the best kept secrets in show business that Patricia Routledge trained not only as an actress but also as a singer and had considerable experience and success in musical theatre, both in this country and in the USA.
Her many awards include a Tony for her Broadway performance in the Styne-Harburg musical Darling of the Day and a Laurence Olivier Award for her performance in Leonard Bernstein’s Candide.
In this fascinating encounter with the writer and broadcaster Edward Seckerson she recalls this very special part of her career with access to some rare and treasured recordings.

General Sir Mike Jackson
The former head of the British Army General Sir Mike Jackson is known for his tough talking and uncompromising style. He gave more than a hint of his pent-up frustrations when he delivered a blistering attack on the Government in a Dimbleby lecture, accusing it of failing to meet the most basic needs of the country's soldiers
who were risking their lives fighting unpopular wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.British generals appear to be getting the taste for speaking the truth in public, a refreshing antidote to most leading politicians. His autobiography, recently published, pulls few punches and gives a soldier’s commentary on recent conflicts – both military and political. His stinging comments about what he described as the Government's strategic failings and that "inadequate" funding is putting troops at risk are well documented. He held little regard for political finesse and once recalled a conversation with Labour's former top spin doctor. Sir Mike said: "I first met Alastair Campbell in Macedonia when he delivered the message that, in talking to the press, I'd been 'off-message'. I told him to go and 'blank blank' somewhere else."

The Goon Show
Apollo Theatre Company in association with Spike Milligan Productions Ltd presents The Goon Show By Spike Milligan
From the producers of the critically-acclaimed 50th Anniversary Tour of Round the Horne comes another radio comedy classic live on stage. In 1951 the landscape of British comedy changed dramatically when The Goon Show burst onto the airwaves of the BBC Home Service. Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe and co. brought a brand of surreal chaotic humour unlike anything that had been heard before and revolutionised the way radio comedy was produced. With its bizarre characters, fantastical plots and hilarious running jokes, The Goon Show captured the imagination of the British public and made household names of its three main stars, all of whom would go on to achieve fame across the globe. The show’s influence is still felt today with comedians like Eddie Izzard citing the show as a major influence. Apollo Theatre Company and Spike Milligan Productions are proud to team up to celebrate Spike’s centenary year by bringing this timeless comedy classic to the stage in the first major theatrical production of the show in its illustrious history.

Come & stay at the fabulous West Wing of Wiveton HallThe West Wing of Wiveton Hall is in the most magical position on the North Norfolk coast with stunning views of the marshes. It’s a self-catering house that sleeps 9 in 4 bedrooms (2 king sized doubles, a triple and a twin).
The space, comfort and privacy of a country house, amidst the charming gardens and farm of Wiveton Hall.
Wiveton Hall’s café (as seen on BBC2) serves breakfast, lunch or tea and tapas, beef & reef or pizza on certain nights. It is a paradise for children as there are play areas including the maize maze, a mini Wiveton Hall wendy hall, the walled garden as well as the nearby beach.
Perfect for family gatherings, holidays, celebrations or a weekend.Perfect for family gatherings, holidays, celebrations or a weekend.
Wiveton Hall is between Cley-next-the Sea and Blakeney. Only 10 minutes from Holt, Gresham’s School and 20 minutes from Sheringham and Beeston Hall school.
