10 Reasons Why Industry Leaders Choose Texas Surveys
3D AS-BUILT MODEL PRODUCTIONAll piping, equipment and structural elements are identified in the point cloud and assigned an identical 3D CAD model primitive. As each element is located and positioned by experienced modelers, the whole unit is quickly assembled and digitally replicated.
3D MODEL CONVERSIONAll models generated are to 1:1 scale and are in real world coordinates. Each model is checked aga ins t t he po in t c l oud fo r accu racy, completeness and deviations.
THE DELIVERABLEOnce passed through QA/QC, each model can be quickly converted for use in a number of CAD software applications: AutoCAD, Microstation, PDS, PDMS, NX / Unigraphics, Catia v4 / v5,

EXISTING CABLE LOCATION & ORIENTATIONEach cable had a unique angle and sag as it traveled from the saddle through the structure to the anchor. At each penetration, calculations had to be made to determine the minimum amount of cutting required to fit a larger diameter replacement cable.
SCAN CLOUD DATAThe registered data was used to visualize the existing conditions, locate each unique path of each cable and identify all critical points of potential interference. Both images above, show scan data of the cable system.
THE DELIVERABLEThe scan data was used to build a precise replica 3D model of the as-is conditions, which as delivered in AutoCAD, for the project engineers who were able to digitally replace the existing cable with the new design to produce 2D drawings which identify areas of interference.

DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENTSone scan takes approximately 3 min 18 seconds. Capturing data in dangerous ares is quick and effective. Due to the increase in accuracy and reduced rework, it reduces safety exposure hours for everyone. from the designers and engineers to the construction crew.
SCANNING THE CELLAR DECK Scanning in hard to reach locations and tying back data to deck levels many feet above, requires no additional lifting, climbing or scaffolding, all of which are either dangerous, expensive or both.
THE DELIVERABLERegistered scan data was used to check and compare the new design in the current as-is environment. The software point cloud clash detection function allowed designers to plan alternate routs where interference with existing elements was an issue .

SCAN DATA VIEWED IN CAD SOFTWAREThe HF unit could be viewed in it’s entirety and in detail. All items were logged and labeled. Items not required were scheduled for demolition and salvage. Items to be shipped were measured and labeled to minimize shipping costs, and to plan the rebuild sequence.
SCAN CLOUD DATAAll equipment, piping and structural elements were identified, measured and labeled prior to dismantle / demolition to catalogue the entire purchase. The data was also archived for insurance, tax and customs purposes.
THE DELIVERABLEThe scan data was used to build a precise replica 3D model of the as-is conditions, which allowed PM’s, engineers, designers and planners to coordinate the relocation and rebuild, and to plan upgrades as required.
