TEACHING THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD
Course Description – Summer 2014 This course explores the significance of the Underground Railroad (URR) in the struggle against slavery. Teachers will use primary documents, rich multimedia, and authentic learning practices to engage and promote student learning about the URR.
Instructional goals include:
Ø Critically analyze the importance of the Underground Railroad
Ø Develop quality multicultural lessons
Ø Integrate technology in teaching and student learning
Ø Visit local URR historical sites
Ø Utilize Charles H Wright Museum of African American History portal
