Selection for participation in the Takoma Park Elementary School (TPES) Primary Magnet Program has been completed. This process included the use of multiple sources of data in order to determine whether the Primary Magnet Program is an appropriate match for each child. A committee of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) staff reviewed the data, and determined that your child _______________ would benefit from the Magnet Program.

An important goal of the Takoma Park Elementary School instructional program is to meet the academic needs of students who have demonstrated strengths in their verbal and non-verbal capacity. Within each homeroom class, there are opportunities for students to work with a community of peers who also demonstrate above grade-level skills and concepts, and/or critical thinking and problem solving skills.Please note that this selection process is not used to formally recognize students as "gifted and talented."
