ELECTIVES This term students from Year 3-6 chose a new elective which they participate in every Friday afternoon.
GREEN NINJAS Lately the Green Ninjas have been learning about the food waste in our lunches and how we can reduce this. Instead of plastic wrap you can make your own honey wrap and with chippie packets you could get big packets of chips and put them in containers. Food scraps can be turned into compost which is great food for our gardens! Instead of buying muesli bars you can make your own and put them into containers and
plastic bags! The Tahunanui school Green Ninjas set off to gather just some of the rubbish in the school grounds and in just two minutes we found this.
The message that the Green Ninjas want you to get in this article is to please start recycling and think before you use. - By Katie, Sam and Daisy
TECHNOLOGY This term Year 3-6 students have been given the opportunity to choose technology as part of the modules activities on Friday afternoons. Of late the technology group have explored the different applications of spur and differential gears using Technic Lego. Last week we started a surveillance aircraft building challenge. The challenge involves constructing an aircraft, using only selected materials, which will fly as far as possible and remain airborne as long as possible. - Murray McMillan

At the Interschool Rugby 7s last week we were
represented by: Wade, Rore, Mana, Fanua, Jet,
Lyric W, Ilisavani, Sam B, Dontae and Erwin.
In pool play we beat Birchwood and Nayland, drew
with Central and were beaten by Clifton Terrace and
Hampden Street.
In the 3rd and 4th play off against Central it was 2-2 at
full time, so we went into golden point. Wade scored the
winning try and we came 3rd overall. We are now
off to the Regionals later in the term.
Thank you to the parents who provided
transport and support on the day.
