Welcome back everyone to our first weeks with students back in full time attendance and
officially half way through the term. I am proud to say that most students have returned ready
to learn and eager to move quickly back into normal school routines. When I say normal I of
course mean with the changes that our new normal now includes moving forward. Our
attendance rate was over 90% last week and we are striving to ensure it stays that way this
week. SMS messages are now back in use for any absence that a child may have with families
being able to provide reasons via return SMS, our Windale PS Skoolbag app, ringing the school
or sending in a note with your child.
Thank you to our community who have followed the procedures to drop off at the gate and pick
up at designated spots across the school. The health and safety of everyone remains our
highest priority. As a staff we will be looking at how well some of these procedures and routines
are working and what we should continue to implement after restrictions are eventually lifted.
News about the format of our Semester One reports will be sent home as soon as a decision is
made and timelines set. We were lucky to have held our parent/teacher interviews in Term 1 so
families have already had the opportunity to meet with staff to discuss learning goals for their
child for the coming term.
Just a few reminders for the week ahead:
• Please continue to drop your child at the school gate and pick them up each afternoon at their designated area
• Each child needs to bring their own water bottle which can be filled up throughout the day • Despite the weather getting colder, all students must still wear hats when playing outside.
Please ensure your child has one and it is clearly labelled with their name. If you require another hat, they are available for purchase from our school office for $10.00.
• Uniforms can be ordered over the phone so they are available for pick up when you come
to the school. Our new school windcheaters are proving very popular and are available for purchase for $35.00
Have a fantastic week of learning everyone!

School Assemblies
For the foreseeable future there will be no school assembly on a Monday afternoon due to COVID 19 restrictions. Recognising student’s learning
achievements remains one of our priorities and we will continue to hand out merit awards on a Monday, where students who have received an award
will have their photo taken, which will be published in our school newsletter and on Facebook.
Continue to send in your home reading diary when you reach a target. Our Year 6 school leaders will be provided with opportunities to have an active leadership role through a variety of pathways, including upskilling
themselves with iPad skills and completing projects that adhere to current COVID guidelines.

3/4H “Cinderella and the Sapphire Ring”
Written by Ruby-Anne Davidson
The prince is throwing a Grand Ball to celebrate his and Cinderella’s wedding anniversary. He also presents Cinderella with a
ring that has an enormous blue sapphire-Cinderella’s favourite stone. Cinderella loves it!
The ring is a bit big and is slipped off Cinderella’s dainty finger. she quickly checked her pockets and inside her long pockets and
inside her long gloves but it is nowhere to be seen. Jup and Gus helped Cinderella look for her lost sapphire ring.
“Where have you been today?” Jup asked.
“The first thing I did was go to my room to write about my new ring in my diary,” said Cinderella. And so right away they all
hurried to Cinderella’s bedroom to look for the ring.
“No ring here!” Jup says with a sigh after they had searched everywhere.
Well let’s try the kitchen then,” said Cinderella hopefully as she had been in there making a pot of tea. But the only ring to be
found in the kitchen was an old doughnut!
They hurried to the music room where Cinderella had been practising a new song on the piano. Gus searched the piano inside
and out. No ring! If the ring was there they didn’t find it.
“We should try the Library. I was reading there for at least an hour this afternoon,” commented Cinderella.
Although they searched way up high and they searched way down low they couldn’t find Cinderella’s precious sapphire ring in
the Library.
“I also went out to the horse stables today to feed Flo (the horse),” said Cinderella. “Maybe I lost the ring somewhere in here.”
They all raced around searching the stables but the ring was nowhere to be seen. Where could it be thought Cinderella!
Cinderella scratched her head.
“There’s only one other place I think,” she said. Cinderella had been in the garden picking flowers for the Grand Ball. They
continued to search everywhere in the garden when Gus found a small round object under a flower blossom. Cinderella shook
her head and told Gus that wheat he had found was a marble.
Next, they decided to go and check the water well. Cinderella had drawn some water for the flower gardens. She had a
thought… I hope it hasn’t fallen down into the well. Gus was trembling with fear. Jup just rolled his eyes at Gus.
“Oh, don’t be such a scaredy-cat. Get into the bucket”
Cinderella slowly lowers Jup and Gus down into the well to look for the precious ring.
“Do you see anything?” asks Cinderella.
“It’s very dark down here and all I can see is a lot of …Eek!!” cried Jup.
Cinderella quickly pulled up the bucket as fast as she could.
“Thank goodness you are both ok” says Cinderella to her good friends. “Please tell me you found my ring down there in the
well.
“Yes!! screamed Gus “we did find it.”
That night at the Grand Ball the guests toasted to the happy couple. Gus and Jup reminded themselves about how lucky they
were to find the ring and that they had wonderful friends.
They all enjoyed themselves at the Grand Ball and everyone was happy to hear that the sapphire ring had been found.
