Teacher Directions: Print cards on cardstock. Laminate and cut out cards.
Student Directions: Choose a dealer and deal 5 cards to each player. Place all other cards in deck and flip the first card over. The dealer states the vowel pattern and reads the word on the flipped over card (oa like in roast, or short o like in drop). The person to the left of the dealer goes first and places a card with the same vowel pattern on top of the flipped over card and says the vowel pattern and reads the word. If a player does not have a card with that vowel pattern, they draw 1 card from the deck. If they have a card that says SWITCH, they place the SWITCH card down and then a card with the new vowel pattern that they want to start using. The player who places all their cards down first is the winner.
