    GO GET THAT DATA!

  • CREATING AN ACCOUNT

    1. Click here to sign up/create and

    account for FREE! All the surveys

    you create will be saved in this

    account.

    2. Create your

    username/password here

    and link it with your preferred

    email address.

    You can also sign up through

    Google or Facebook with

    those passwords (on right)

  • CREATING A SURVEY3. Once you sign up you will

    get this page that spells out

    the site for you.

    4. Click either of the green

    buttons to create a new

    survey

    5. Now you have a a few

    options:

    a. create your own from

    scratch

    b. use 'expert' template

    c. hybrid: create your own

    and draw from 'expert'

    questions

    6. Next, if writing your own,

    select a category from this

    dropdown

  • ADDING QUESTIONS7. Click here to use the 'question

    bank' of premade questions OR

    (better idea) click below on "Add

    Question" to write your own.

    8. Entitle your question.

    9. Choose question type from dropdown

    menu. Specify how many responses are

    possible.

    10. Write the response items in a vertical list

    in the "Answer Options" box

    11. Decide if you will include an "other" option,

    if you will make responding to this question

    mandatory, and if choices will be randomized

    (to reduce patterns and/or cheating)

  • Editing the 'look'

    Here, you edit the "look" of your

    survey, i.e. the color scheme, the

    font type, the font size, survey title,

    and page title.

    Then, view your changes in the

    "previewer" below.

  • IMPORTANT REMINDERS

    !! Do not request sensitive/confidential data

    from participants as this data will be forever in

    the internet!

    !! Think about your target population when

    compiling the questions. Be mindful of culturally

    sensitive questions that may cause discomfort

    for survey participants. You may want to

    include an N/A response option.

  • To Protect your participants,

    Survey Monkey suggests:

  • PROTECTING PARTICIPANTS cont.

    Since your survey is to be published on the web, you want to make sure your participants' responses are

    secure and that none of their personal information is in jeopardy.

    Survey Monkey gives you some suggestions of how to protect your participants.

    You can use SLL encryption to secure your survey's connection to participants.

    13. When satisfied with your

    survey, click here to send it.

    14. This page will pop

    up. Click "add" to the

    'send' option you want to

    use. each will give you

    further instructions

  • PUBLISH SURVEY (COLLECT RESULTS) on FACEBOOK

    Options for sharing your

    survey on facebook:

    1. as posted to your Wall

    2. as embedded in your

    page

  • PUBLISHING (COLLECTING RESULTS) VIA EMAIL/WEB

    a) press "start"

    b) add recipients by typing in email addresses or

    by selecting them from your address book if you

    have set it up.

    c) you can also search for certain addresses by

    customizing your email recipient criteria

    Click here to send via

    email. Your "from" email

    address (where you will

    receive response updates)

    will need to be verified.

  • EDITING A PUBLISHED SURVEY

    To edit an existing

    survey once it has been

    published, log in and

    return to that survey.

    Click on "Design." It will

    take to you back to the

    page "Edit Survey" and

    you proceed as you did

    when you created the

    survey.

  • ANALYZING RESPONSES

    To analyze your results, you have

    a number of options. But first you

    have to get to where they are

    stored.

    a) click "Analyze" to get to the

    page with result details

    b) view the results in

    Questionnaire format (all

    responses presented per

    question) or in Individual

    Response format (individual

    participant's responses per

    question)

    c) textual analysis is only

    available with Pro.

    d) you can also

    apply rules to

    your results to

    find/analyze

    trends in your

    data.

    These are your options for exporting your

    collected data.
