Market research report

The reason I have done this market research is to find out what people like to see in a music video, it was done using a questionnaire so I can see what people’s responses are.

My first question asked about the age of the person, the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire were of the ages 16-24. This is a good answer as the target audience is people around those ages. However some of the people who answered my questionnaire were 35-44, they would still enjoy my music video.

My second question asked about the gender of the person, the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire were female. This is a good answer as the target audience is females. However some of the people who answered my questionnaire were male, they still are my target audience however the video is more targeted at women

My third question asked about the person’s favourite music genre, the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire preferred house music. This is a good answer as the genre of the music video and the music is house. However some of the people who answered my questionnaire enjoy other genres of music, people who preferred pop and rap may enjoy the video as they are similar genres. The people who chose rap may not enjoy the video.

My sixth question asked about the persons preferred style of music video, the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire said narrative which means a video that tells a story. This is a good answer as my music video is in the narrative style.

My fourth question asked about the persons preferred social media, the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire said twitter. This is a good answer as when we do our music video advert we will give a link to twitter as that is where the majority of promotion will happen. However some of the people who answered my questionnaire said Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, this is still good as the music video can be posted on these things and it will get around using word of mouth.

My fifth question asked about what location the viewers would like to see a music video in, the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire said at a party. This is a good answer as my whole music video is based on a party, the other option that was chosen the most was in a house, and this is also a good answer as it is filmed in a house

My eighth question asked about where people share there music, the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire said they tell their friends or they share it on social media. This is a good answer as word of mouth is the best form of publicity and we are putting a link to social media on our advert.

My seventh question what the person’s favourite thing was to see in a music video, I got a lot of random answers as people have different opinions, a few people said a group of friends and parties which are good as my music video is based on a surprise party organised by a group of friends.

My final question asked about how often people listen to music, the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire said every day or often. This is a good answer because it means a lot of people will listen and watch my music video.

My ninth question asked about where people find out about new music, the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire said social media. This is a good answer as I will be sharing my music video on social media. However some of the people who answered my questionnaire said word of mouth which is also a good way of advertisement.

In my market research I found that people from the age 18-24 enjoyed seeing a music video that included a party and a group of friends having fun with the narrative style of video.
