MoU with BPCL September 5, 2017
An MoU has been inked between KIIT-Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on 5th September 2017 to promote innovative and technology driven start-up companies. A seven member delegation of BPCL with

KIIT-TBI and signed the MoU in presence of
Dr Mrutyunjay Suar, CEO of KIIT-TBI, start-up
companies and innovators of KIIT-TBI. According to
this MoU, KIIT-TBI will help BPCL in the proper
selection of Start-up Ideas, its valuation, the timing
of Entry and Exit and other key activities relating to
investment in start-up ventures.

An Mou with LifeIntellect, a Bangalore based technology and intellectual property consulting firm has been signed where Bio incubatees can leverage services like effective generation, protection and management of intellectual properties. KIIT-TBI hosted final round of
the hackathon, around 25 teams were selected to built one application using the themes: Machine
Learning and AI, GPS applications using ESRI APIs and Aadhaar APIs to solve 5 problems in web development, machine learning and Android app development in 2.5 hours in a team of two. The final 10 teams were awarded with Rs. 15,000 prize money sponsored by CSM Tech. The 2 runners up teams received Rs. 5,000 each sponsored by KIIT-TBI incubatees iServeU and Lokate.

A high impact interactive session "Mentor Crawl - The Business Mixture" was organised at KIIT-TBI bringing together the recog-nized startups under Startup Odisha to discuss their issues with mentors. INVENT Biannual review
October 27-28, 2017
INVENT Biannual review was held on 27-28th October at KIIT TBI.
The program was facilitated by TDB, DIFD and Villgro. Dr. Bindu
Dey, Secretary, TDB, attended the event and gave her valuable
inputs in making the program more dynamic and impactful. Senior
members from DFID (Anjali Sablok, Karthik Krishnan ), the INVENT
Advisory board(Rakesh Rewari, Ajay Mutreja),TDB Consultant(R.B.
Saxena) and Villgro (Paul Basil, Chand Das, Srinivas Ramanujam,
Rama Kanan) were present. The Incubator heads and program
heads of all the four implementation partners (IIT Kanpur, IIM Kol-
kata, Start-up Oasis and KIIT TBI) were present along with their
teams. Cross learning to integrate the best practices were discussed
and presentations on the progress so far and the road map for the
future were made.

KIIT-TBI Bioincubator organised an Interactive session with Dr. Prosenjit Chattopadhaya. Dr Prosenjit Chat-topadhay, who works closely with Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan Law firm is a registered patent agent and has been actively engaged in prepar-ing, filing and prosecuting of patent applications, both in India and abroad, shared his insights on Navigating Patents In India. He elaborated on IPR protec-tion and enforcement strategies and expert advice for avoiding common pitfalls. Our start-ups had the opportu-nity to ask questions on patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights to the expert. It was followed by one-on-one mentoring session where he addressed the querries of our incubatees.

OPEN GOVDATA HACK October 28-29, 2017
KIIT-TBI hosted Open-GovDataHack - A 24 hr hackathon organised by National Informatics Centre (NIC), Ministry of Electronics and IT in association with Internet and Mobile Associa-tion of India (IAMAI) and StartUp India. Around 200 start-ups and students partici-pated and worked to de-velop apps using the govern-ment data open to all.

Our in- house investment head, Mr Raghav Panda too shared his views on funding opportunities for establishing med-tech start-ups. His talk highlighted about the digital health revolution and the emerging start-ups in this field.

and to verify co relation of health impact of the business of VL, JSG. The Study was carried
out in 5000 house hold covering 12 villages. The HIA was carried out as per International
Council of Mining & Metal (ICMM).

School students. The participants had to come up
with the business plan for our in-house start-ups. The
event began by a briefing session by the expert,
then the contestants formed a team of two and un-
derstood the business model of our start-ups which
was later followed by the presentation of viable
business plan. The winners and runner-ups were
awarded with certificates and cash prizes.

KIIT-TBI in association with School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT University organised two weeks long Faculty Development programme (FDP) in Entrepreneur-ship from September 20-October 7, 2017. The programme was sponsored by NSTEDB, DST, Government of India. Around twenty five participants including faculty members and mentors of various institutions/organizations were equipped with skills and knowl-edge essential for inculcating entrepreneurial values in students and guiding and monitoring their progress towards entrepreneurial career. The participants were trained through lecture, discussion, interaction, and practical exercises on the various aspects of entrepreneurship development process.
