History
-Lucius Tarquinius Superbus-7th and final king in Rome’s monarchy period-a tyrant known for brutally having his enemies executed-also called Tarquin the Proud
Story of his reign
-came from an Etruscan family-married to Tullia, the daughter of the 6th king of Rome, Servius Tullius- She encouraged him to murder Servius in order to gain the throne

-at time of his ascension, Rome had 35,000 inhabitants, territory 800 km-Superbus expanded the power of the city by building Capitoline Temple and Cloaca Maxima, which is Rome’s sewer system-The Senate began to fulfill its function by advising Superbus, who ignored them.

History
-Actual treaty exists between Superbus and the neighboring settlement of Gabii and was preserved until AD 14. Augustus mentions it in passing in several of his edicts.
