Gospel Summary A storm arose on the sea and the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water toward them. At first, they thought it was a ghost, but then they
recognized Jesus. In an effort to show his great faith, Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. Peter was focused and walked toward Jesus. All went well until he looked at the storm. The same is true for us. If we stay focused on Jesus, we will be strong. It's when we get distracted by adversity that we begin to sink. Reflection for Families Parents certainly know there are many stormy times in trying to raise children. As we fall into bed exhausted at night, we may realize that we focused on the storms instead of Jesus' loving presence. Take a few minutes today to think about where Jesus tried to break in.
Discerning God’s Call:
This weekend is the Annual
Seminarian Collection. This
collection was previously held in
November, but as of this year, has
been moved to August and is your opportunity to support the
educational expenses of our seminarians. Currently, we are
blessed to have eight men discerning a call to the priesthood.
The cost to educate each seminarian is a little over $50,000
per seminarian. The total cost to educate all our seminarians
is almost $500,000. Every gift to the Seminarian Education
fund helps to cover the tuition, books and board and summer
ministry expenses for our seminarians. Your generosity is a
vital component to the success of these men as they prepare
to minister to the needs of future generations of Catholics
within our diocese. Thank you for your consideration and
kindness.
PLEASE NOTE: You can find an envelope for this
collection in your weekly offering box dated November 8th

A Family Perspective …by Bud Ozar The demands of family can be so overwhelming we feel walking on water would be easier. When Jesus was pressured, He dismissed everyone, so he could be “by himself and pray.” When overwhelmed and stressed, go to a quiet place and surrender your pressured feelings to the Lord using Peter’s prayer in today’s gospel: “Lord, save me.”
