Students may enroll in internships, service learning, practicums, and/or volunteer ing oppor tunities. Not only will students earn academic credits for their service, but they will gain valuable insight on comparative work environments between Spain and Nor th Amer ica.
This oppor tunity is offered in several fields and student may earn 3 to 6 credits, depending the quantity of hours they enroll. We will work with students to find the oppor tunity that best suit their needs and qualifications. Some placements may require proficiency in Spanish, or previous knowledge in that field.

International Studies Program The International Studies Program is a shor t- term undergraduate program offered by the Consortium for Transatlantic Studies and Scholarship (CTSS) in collaboration with Instituto Franklin- UAH. Courses are solely instructed in English and offered in the Spr ing Semester .
Mission: To encourage and promote specialized research and multicultural discussion from a transatlantic perspective.
Par ticipants: The program is offered to both undergraduate students and par ticipating faculty. Faculty may propose their course to teach for CTSS. Universities do not need to send faculty for students to par ticipate.
Structure: Three blocks of 1 month each. Students choose 1 course per block. Intensive format of 45 hours (3 credits). All students will be enrolled in an ?Introduction to Spain? course. Students earn 12 credits total.

Host family Students gain a deep intercultural exper ience, as well as r ich language immersion, while living with a family in Alcalá. When applying to the program, students fill out a home- stay questionnaire. We will match the best family that fits the student?s needs. Students receive 3 meals per day, every day and once a week laundry service.
Housing in Alcalá de Henares
Residence halls Students may choose to stay in a residence hall. Students live with students from all over the world. They receive a meal plan and have access to all the facilit ies. Students may choose to live with a roommate or alone. Pr ices may vary depending on the residence hall and meal plans.

Off- Site Activi ties
Many courses include off- site activities and excursions related to the course. For our business courses, students visit small businesses and corporations in the area. Students in gastronomy will visit restaurants and take some cooking classes. In our tour ism course, students will have an exper iential component where they will have a practicum in a tour ist agency.
In Alcalá
Students will be surrounded and living in a medieval city that is full of local charm and history. A city full of storks and Castilian culture. With modern restaurants, famous tapas, and a r ich university vibe, students will feel comfor table and at home in Alcalá de Henares.

Our staff is responsible for the organization of programs, local logistics, excursion planning, housing, r isk management, student affairs, and much more. We work closely with institutions and to create programs that best suit their needs.
