epED La Carlota inks MOA of READ
for Excellence with RHI
The Department of Education – Schools Division
of La Carlota City together with Roxas Holdings, Inc. (RHI)
launched the Reaching out for Environmental Awareness
and Discovery (READ) for Excellence Program, last March
15, 2018 at the La Carlota North Elementary School
covered court and stage, La Carlota City through a
memorandum of agreement signing of an estimated
P0.5M worth of school assistance.
The signing was attended by program partners
from RHI’s subsidiary companies Central Azucarera de la
Carlota, Inc. (CACI) represented by its vice president and
general manager, Esteban H. Coscolluela, Roxol
Bioenergy Corporation’s (RBC) Jonah Dador and Dr.
Portia M. Mallorca, Schools Division Superintendent of
La Carlota City. Also present to turn-over donated
teaching aids and books through the READ for Excellence
Program were benefactors from Center for Art, New
Ventures and Sustainable Development (CANVAS)
represented by Angeline C. Bondad, and Eskwelahan
Sang Katawhan-Negros (ESKAN) which was represented

Dr. Portia M. Mallorca, Schools Division Superintendent of La Carlota City.

Negros Occidental governor, Hon. Rafael B. Coscolluela.
All elementary schools in the Division were the
beneficiaries of the teaching aids while selected
elementary schools with high frustration level in reading
received the book donations. The memorandum of
agreement also covers the repair of school stage and the
establishment of a READ for Excellence Park in La Carlota
Sugar Central Elementary School which was signed in the
presence of RBC’s general manager, Noli Segovia.
Dr. Portia M. Mallorca, CESO V, Schools Division
Superintendent of this Division delivered her State of the Division Address before Curriculum Implementation Division; School Governance and Operations Division; School Heads; and other division personnel on March 28, 2018 at the Division Conference Hall.
The SODA highlighted the programs, projects, accomplishments and awards achieved by the division in terms of Key Performance Indicators. SDS Mollarca also presented strategic interventions to be undertaken to address challenges to improve performance.
Dr. Mallorca who started heading DEpEd LaCarlota since April 2012 emphasized that the realization of Deped Vision Mission and commitment must be anchored on its core values. She recognized the importance of happy, healthy, hopeful Deped Family and everyone’s share towards the fulfillment of DepEd VMV.

Matagumpay na inilunsad ang kauna-unahang Senior High School Expo 2018 noong nakaraang ika -22-24 ng Marso sa Dibisyon ng La Carlota. Nakiisa ang Alternative Learning System ( ALS) at iba’t ibang paaralan ng Lungsod kagaya ng Doña Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High (DHSBNHS), San Miguel National High School (SMNHS), La Granja National High School (LGNHS) , Yubo Extension High School at Balabag Extension High School. Sinuportahan ito ng kani- kanilang mga katuwang sa trabaho, kolehiyo at mga kilalang negosyante sa loob at labas ng sinabing lungsod . Nagkaroon ng parada at pambungad na palatuntunan sa unang araw na ginanap sa pampublikong plasa ng lungsod. Ang palatuntunan ay nagsimula sa panalangin na
pinangunahan ni Fr. Hubert Javellana, Director ng Pax Catholic Academy. kasunod nito ay ang pambukas na
pananalita ni G. Melgar Coronel, Foster

Pagkatapos ay opisyal na binuksan ng
masigasig na tagapamanihala ng Dibisyon
ng La Carlota, na si Dr. Portia M. Mallorca
at ito’y sinundan ng pagbibigay ng
katibayan sa pagpapahalaga sa lahat na
mga kasali sa pampubliko at pribadong
paaralan sa nasabing Dibisyon at mga
katuwang nito na walang humpay na
sumusuporta sa naturang programa ng
Departamento ng Edukasyon. Ang
butihing Mayor ng Lungsod na si Hon. Luis
Jalandoni III ay nagbigay din ng kaniyang
mensahe ukol sa nasabing programa.
Pagkatapos nito, malugod na
ipinagkaloob ng Latter Day Saints ang mga
Solar Panels sa Departamento ng.
Edukasyon sa Dibisyon ng La Carlota na

pananalita ni Dr. Portia M. Mallorca na
tumatak sa puso’t isipan ng bawat
tagapakinig na ayon sa kaniya, “ Ang
pagsasara ng Expo 2018 ay siya namang
magbubukas sa bawat pinto ng mga
oportunidad na naghihintay sa bawat
mag-aaral sa trabaho, kolehiyo at
negosyo.” Sa katapusang bahagi ng
programa ay isang panalangin ang
inihandog ni Pastor Edward Magliquian,
SHS PTA President ng DHSBNHS.

Latter Day Saints Charities donates 1192 pairs of slippers to DepEd La Carlota By: Arch. Kenneth C. Romay
The Department of Education – Schools Division of La Carlota City received 1192 pairs of rubber slippers from the Latter-day Saints Charities through the External Partnerships Service of DepEd Central Office last March 27, 2018 La Carlota City Mayor Hon. Luis J. Jalandoni III, Elder and Sister Zorn of LDS Charities, Schools division superintendent Dr. Portia M. Mallorca attended the turn-over ceremonies. All enrollees from Balabag Elementary School, Caiñaman Elementary School, Esperanza Elementary School, Miguel S. Mondia Elementary School, Salamanca Elementary School and San Miguel Elementary School II received the rubber slippers. Also present during the activity were Sangguniang Panlungsod Member and Committee on Education Chairman Hon. Jose Luis A. Jalandoni; Elder Villarete; Brother Gelanga and Sister Tina of LDS Charities La Carlota Chapter; PTA Federation President Barlow F. Biñas; Administrative Officer Ruth F. Villanueva; SGOD Chief Leilani D. Castillo; ducation Program Supervisors from the Curriculum and Implementation Division; school heads; teachers and pupils recipients. Dr. Mallorca expressed her gratitude to the generosity of LDS Charities in not only donating rubber slippers but of also providing a water facility to the school and community; constructing of covered walkway; donating laptops, sports equipment, umbrellas and raincoats to Yubo Elementary School last year. LDS Charities donated about P1.6M worth of various school assistance to the Division of La Carlota City this school year 2017-2018.
