As we enter the knockout stages of both the Shield and Gumby finals, husbands all around the country are suffering severe marital wrath as they forgo all non-footy related activities in an attempt to keep abreast of late changes and substitution announcements. Whilst this did little for the four teams that exited on the weekend, it confirms the high es-teem that Supercoach and this competition is held in by the family members that matter.
We now shift our gaze to this weekend’s semis and whilst we didn’t really have the nail-biters we are accustomed to at this time of the year, it again promises to be another bru-tal round of winner takes all football. Ax and Mudcrabs are in line to join the long list of top 4 teams to suffer the indignity of a straight sets exit and must be feeling the pressure. Speaking of which, FOF have proven that they love it by claiming another do or die final, which is now proving their specialty. On a personal note, the D-Man Destroyers are one step closer to the Gumby title after they comprehensively dismantled Franga and his Fools. Dazzlers—I’m going at ya!!
Of course, it would be remiss of me not to mention the sad departure of one of the world’s finest artists in Robin Williams. Robin’s early work in Mork and Mindy provided Dunwich with hours of amusement in his younger years and it is with eerie expectation that I slowly watch Amity transform into Mrs Doubtfire as the years advance rather too quickly.

1ST SEMI FINAL
Mudcrabs –v– Tomsies
The Muddies were a little disappointing in their loss to the Baggers, however Dunwich thinks some ducks and drakes may have been played. The Tomsies did enough to see off Dank’s Peptides and would have been thankful for draw handed to them by their nar-row 5th place finish. These two haven’t meet since round 1 where the Mudcrabs saluted, but expect both sides to throw everything at each other to earn a crack at Wolfpak next week.
Dunwich says MUDCRABS by 110.

2ND SEMI FINAL
Ax –v– Funny Old Fellow
A battle of the brown and golds for the right to face the Premiership favourites in the Shield’s penultimate week. Coach FOF pulled some clever moves from the box which killed the Pies season and will be looking to replicate this as he carefully manages his list. After finishing second on the ladder, Ax went in as favourites against the Pak but were comfortably covered for most of the weekend. Encouragingly for them, Ax was the last team to inflict a defeat on FOF and will be desperate to do the same and avoid a straight sets exit, however Dunwich can feel an upset brewing.
Dunwich says FOF by 19.
