STORYTELLERTERRITerri was diagnosed with Parkinson’sin September 2014. Terri and her husband were visiting a friend in Peoriawho has Parkinson’s when he told themabout a program called Rock SteadyBoxing. They attended one of theclasses and were very impressed. They reached out to the YMCA aboutfinding a home for Rock Steady Boxing at the Y. Classes for Rock Steady started in October 2017.

Terri states the Y coaches have been enthusiastic, friendly and verysupportive of the program and the participants that come to the classes. She loves the camaraderie amongst the participants. They may have different issues, but they are all fighting back against Parkinson’s.

Her shoulders and arms are getting stronger and she’s working on her feetmovements because she has freezing of the gait where her feet stick to the ground when she turns around or tries to move sideways. The coacheshave come to know each of the participants and what they need to workon. Terri states it’s a great program that anyone can participate in!

Thank you Terri for being a STORYTELLER for the YMCA!
