“Imagine how Joseph felt as the birth of his mysterious son approached: puzzled, excited, awed. Deep faith was his light in the darkness. It enabled him to see the pres-
ence of God even where suffering, privation, and violence appeared to reign. Joseph knew the pain and embarrassment of poverty when there was no room in the inn. He witnessed violence when Herod unleashed his wrath against the children in Bethle-hem. He felt persecution when he fled to Egypt. Yet he believed. He believed that God walked with him, that God is faithful to promises, that God is alive, and we can find God not only in the light but also in the darkness. He lived on the edge of mystery and was not afraid to gaze into it with courage in order to find God.” (Maloney, Seasons of Spirituality, p.54)

December 2014 MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!
To all of our parishioners and to your families, I wish
you a very Merry Christmas. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for all you do for our communities. You may be lectors, altar servers, cantors or choir members, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, ministry to the sick and home-bound, sacristans, decorators, teachers in our parish school of religion, members of the Ladies Sodality, Pro-Life, the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, the Knights of Columbus, Marshall County Homeless Ministries, The Seafood Festival, The Festi-val of the Holy Cross, The Festival of Our Lady of Guadalupe, pastoral council, finance council, contributors in any way to our parish. Thank you! I am particularly proud of our staff and the great work they’ve done this year. We are grateful for our two Deacons, Edwin Santos and Ken Hall and especially for the ministry of Fr. Guillermo Aristizabal up at the Chapel.
I am especially grateful to God for calling me to share in the priesthood of his Son, Jesus Christ. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your pastor. It takes all of us to make our parish what it is: the Body of Christ. We need all of you, all of the parts of the body, to work together to make the Kingdom of God a reality here in Marshall County. We all need to do our part to make the message of Jesus clear to those who still do not understand. Our actions speak louder than our words ever could. May the peace, hope, and joy of our new-born savior be with you and your entire family this Christmas.
