ST PETER SCHOOL THANKS
PARISH FAMILY
As we wrap up Catholic Schools Week 2018
we extend our sincere thanks to Fr. O’Neill
and Monsignor Tomaselli, the St. Peter’s
Finance Council and all of our St. Peter’s Par-
ish Family for their ongoing love, dedication
and support of our school. We consider it a great blessing to have
our Catholic school, and we hope to honor all of you by continu-
ing the work of academic excellence, strong faith formation and
true awareness of service to others in all we do. And to continue
the tradition of Catholic Education that was the intent of our par-
ish family back in 1961 and to the present day. God bless you and
thank you!
FEBRUARY 4, 2018
FIFTH SUNDAY IN
ORDINARY TIME
SUPER SUNDAY
PASTOR’S COMMENTS
* CCD ATTENDANCE continues to be an issue. Parents
and our parish have to work together to fulfill the important
responsibility of religious education for our youngsters. Con-
sistent class attendance along with weekly Mass participation
are not unrealistic expectations. Parents should make CCD and
Mass attendance priorities for their children and not topic of
negotiation.
* Making home improvements? Consider using our Scrip
program for your home improvement needs and help out St.
Peter’s Church and School at the same time. For home repairs,
interior updates and wardrobe changes, we have cards for you!
SCRIP Gift Cards are available at the rectory during office
hours. There are a variety of cards currently available in the
rectory.
* Spiritual CDs provide an opportunity for education and con-
templation. Many varied topics are featured in the CD rack in
the vestibule. You are strongly encouraged to utilized these
valuable resources.
FEBRUARY SANCTUARY CANDLE
The Sanctuary Candle will burn this month
for Cathy Qualters
from the Qualters Family.
CHOIR CORNER St. Peter’s Adult Choir is looking for some new members . If
you are interested, please join us on Wednesday evenings at
6:30PM in the choir loft. Our numbers are down a bit as many of
our “Regulars” travel to Florida for the winter. We need to fill
those seats up. Please prayerfully consider joining. Any questions
please call Karen Kuhn, 445-9382.
PRE CANA MARRIAGE PREPARATION is a mandatory
requirement for all diocesan couples planning to marry in the
upcoming year. The class will be held on Sat., March 3, 2018
from 8:30AM to 4:00PM in the St. Peter’s parish annex. The
cost is $70.00 per couple payable to Family Life Office at reg-
istration prior to the beginning of the session. If you plan to
attend this year’s Pre–Cana session, please call or email the
rectory by Friday, February 23 to register. Email: cwag-
[email protected] or phone 814-443-6574.

The February meeting of St. Peter’s KofC is cancelled.
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March
14th at 6:30PM in the Annex.
STEWARDSHIP
Jesus balanced His time of serving others with quiet prayer
time. Christian stewards include prayer and reflection
among their daily routines. It is only through the strengthen-
ing of their relationship with God that they can continue to
serve well.

will need dessert items and volunteer help for each dinner. Sig-
nup sheets for help for February 14 and 23 are in the vestibule.

POOR COLLECTION. The Knights of Columbus would like
to thank Parishioners for the kind and generous support given to
the monthly Collection for the Poor, held on the third Sunday of
every month. In 2017, your gifts, which were passed directly to
the Parish for distribution, totaled $6320. During 2017 the money
was used for many purposes, including a monthly contribution to
the Somerset County Mobile Food Bank, providing Meals on
Wheels for emergency relief, help with heat and rent on a short
term basis, purchase furniture, money for poor bag when a person
needs gas money to go the doctor, money for baby food, diapers,
groceries, money for medicine and flowers for shut ins. Your
continuing support of this effort to help our neighbors is much
appreciated.
SANCTUARY CANDLE 2018-We have vacancies for the
Tabernacle Candle in the months of March, May, July, Sep-
tember and October. They are $20.00 each. If you are inter-
ested in reserving a candle please call the rectory during nor-
mal business hours.
THANK YOU for the donation to St. Peter’s Church from
Joan Smith.
ASH WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE-Masses with dis-
tribution of ashes will be celebrated on Ash Wed. at
7AM, 11:15AM, 4:15PM and 7PM. There will be a
scripture service with distribution of ashes at 12:15.
There will be an extra evening Lenten mass on Wed. at 7PM.
Station of the Cross will take place at 7PM on Sunday evenings
during Lent and at Noon on Mondays during Lent.
THE FLU VIRUS has claimed many victims. Doctors tell
us it’s the most serious outbreak in many years. If you have
the flu or are ill, please do not attend Mass. Weekend Mass
attendance is important but sickness is a valid reason for
missing Mass. Besides, it is important that the flu virus not
be spread.
SIGHT AND SOUND-Recently there was a note in the bulletin
about a possible trip to see the play JESUS at Sight and Sound in
Lancaster. A weekday matinee in August seemed most feasible.
Cost with ticket, bus and meal should be about $120.00 dollars.
Please call the rectory if you are interested. The trip will be set if
numbers warrant.
