Spoorthi Foundation is a Not for profit Organization registered under
Government of Karnataka started by a group of likeminded engineering
students of Mysore. The main motive of the organization is to inspire the
future generation of India by helping them mainly in academics.
“Education is the powerful tool that can change the world”
- Nelson Mandela
Motive
Being a responsible citizen of the country, Youths need to step up to a
cause and try their best to do something for the great nation that we all
are in.
“When you inspire a child to teach another, you are not just making them literates,
you are buliding them for a prosperous tomorrow”
Adarsh Ramesh, Founder Secretary, Project Reach Out
First Steps
The ideal thought of Spoorthi Foundation was to help and
encourage children in orphanages and government schools for
education by doing a bit of help from our side.
To give a good start, Spoorthi Foundation came up with the idea
of the program “One Book, One Dream” where we requested to
the students of MIT Mysore to donate a note book. Later, we
donated all collected books the orphanages and government
school in Mysore.
It gives a feeling in each one of us; if we have right to education,
why not all the children in this world cannot have.
When we are capable of sharing or donating a little in what we
have, why cannot we help the needy children in getting their
right for education?
Today by our little contribution, it gives hope to hundreds of
children in our locality; tomorrow these children will give hope
to thousands of people around the world.
This is how it all started…
PROJECTS
INDIA OF MY DREAMS (£À£Àß PÀ£À¹£À s̈ÁgÀvÀ)
Swami Vivekananda has always been an
inspiration for us. So, we wanted to start our
year with celebrating his 150th Birth
Anniversary with children. We decided to
conduct an essay competition for the high
school children. The topic was decided as
“India of My Dreams” in Kannada.
We managed to get prize sponsors from SRI
RAMAKRISHNA MATH, Mysore. And also our
friend Sandeep sponsored Instrument box for
the winners along with Stationaries required by
the children.
“Education is the manifestation of the
perfection already present in man”
- Swami VIvekananda
ONE BOOK ONE DREAM
This was Spoorthi Foundation’s first program which was conducted from April 25th, 2012 to May 4th, 2012 during the annual college fest at MIT Mysore.
We collected notebooks from the students of
our MIT Mysore and donated those to the
children of government schools. Subsequently
it was conducted during NEN E-Week 2013 and
Vidyuth 2013, annual college fest of
Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering
COMPUTER and ENGLISH WORKSHOP
The main intention of Spoorthi is to create
interest in children for education. Make them
aware about computers; and how much English
is important in present world; encourage them
for education without any discontinuation due
to their family or economic problems.
We conducted two days program to the children
of government primary school, Tilaknagar,
Mysore. Team of coordinators and volunteers
taught basics of Computers and English to the
children of 5th class to 7th class.
This same program was conducted for the
students at Government High School,
Vontikoppal, Mysore and in Gangothri School,
Mysore.
At the end of the computer session we played an
animated moral Kannada movie to the students.
JOY OF TEACHING WEEK 2013
When we started SPOORTHI, We were a bunch of engineering lads hoping to be the
change we wanted to see. Every journey begins with small steps. We managed to
conduct few sessions of computer basics and basics of English grammar in the one year.
We had limited resources, limited number of volunteers, and limited amount of time.
But, we had something that kept us marching forward, BELIEF! That we can inspire
others to take a step and make them to think of doing their little for the country. With
that hope, we kept working.
The event was conducted from Nov 6 – Nov 12, 2013. The motive of the event was to
inspire youths of Mysore to come to the government schools and interact with them.
Volunteers were allowed to teach whatever they knew. We approached PROJECT
REACH OUT, an initiative by the students of SJCE Mysore. They played a very important
role in making JOTW a success. Next in the line was Revion, a startup by the students of
MIT Mysore.
On the first day, we visited Manasa High School and Revion team visited Metagalli High
School. Next day, our team went to Banumaiah’s Girls High School. On the third
day, PROJECT REACH OUT joined the event. They visited Metagalli High School with their
team. India’s freedom struggle, photography, inspirational stories, mathematics,
English, computer were covered in their session.
Our team went to Yeliyuru 9th November, a village near Mandya
and took classes for the High school students. It was an amazing
experience to interact with the students as it was the first time we
were visiting a school outside Mysore.
Moving on to fifth day, our team visited Banumaiah’s Boys High
School. We concluded our event at Paduvarahalli School along
with, PROJECT REACH OUT. During the course of the event, live
