Where: Garaway High School – 146 Dover Rd Sugarcreek, OH 44681 When: Saturday, September 26th, 2015 – 11am – 3pm What: the 4th Annual Water Walk Cost: Registration starts at $35 with other varying levels of sponsorship which include promotional T-‐shirts and wristbands. Why: To raise awareness of the World Water Crisis and to raise funds for a community
living in Jinja, Uganda. All proceeds will be used to provide the following:
• The living water, the gospel of Jesus Christ • access to clean water through water storage tanks • education and awareness of proper sanitation and hygiene
The Water Walk will be 4 miles, the same distance women and children in Africa walk everyday to get their water. Each participant will have a goal to raise at least $100 to help provide our friends in Africa the opportunity to regain their hopes and dreams through the gift of clean water.

Dear Friends, Family, and Neighbors, Did you know that the person you love is 78% water? Every day nearly 1 billion people around the world go out looking for water, coming up short. But this summer, we can change this! I am writing to share with you our goal to help provide a community living in Uganda, Africa with the gift of clean water for the rest of their lives! I personally invite you to consider sponsoring our 4th Annual Water Walk in Sugarcreek, OH benefiting our friends in Uganda. The Water Walk will be 4 miles long and we will walk while carrying water, the same distance women and children in Africa walk everyday to get their water. The event will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11 AM at the Garaway High School football field. You can sign up and register online at www.igivehope.org/walk. Registration starts at $35 with some levels including a free Water Walk T-‐shirt! Each participant will have a goal to raise $100 for the families of Jinja, Uganda. Our fundraiser will fund projects in three ways:
• The living water, the gospel of Jesus Christ • access to clean water through water storage tanks • education and awareness of proper sanitation and hygiene
Your contributions will help bring healing and hope to some of the poorest families in the world. Our heart is to share Jesus and see the gift of clean water change lives. So lets come together here in Ohio to help improve the lives of our friends in Uganda, Africa.

• 1 out of every 6 people in the world live in extreme poverty, and most of them lack the most basic resource to survive, clean water (WHO-‐UNICEF, 2004)
• At any time, all over the world, half of the world’s hospital beds are occupied by those who have a disease due to drinking dirty water (WSCC, 2004).
• 75% of Americana are chronically dehydrated. It is probable that similar percentages apply to 90% of the world’s population (Statistical Abstract of the U.S., 1986).
• Americans drink more than 1 billion gallons of water per day, while at the same time over 1 billion people in the world do not have access to safe drinking water (Statistical Abstract of the U.S., 1986).
• 3.41 million people die from water, sanitation and hygiene-‐related causes each year (WHO, 2008).
• An American taking a five-‐minute shower uses more water than the average person in a developing country slum uses for an entire day (UNDP, 2006).
• The water and sanitation crisis claims more lives through disease than any war claims through guns (UNDP, 2006).
• There are 1.6 million deaths per year attributed to dirty water and poor sanitation (WHO 2008).
• The average American household consumes about 127,400 gallons of water during a year. Homeowners in Washington, DC, pay about $350 for that amount of water. Buying that same amount of water from a vendor in Guatemala City would cost more than $1,700 (Resource Action Program “Water Prices Rising Worldwide”, 2007).
• Over 40 billion work hours are lost each year in Africa to the need to fetch drinking water. (WHO, 2004)
• In the past ten years, diarrhea related to unsanitary water has killed more children than all the people lost to armed conflict since WWII. (WSSCC, 2004)
• 90 percent of wastewater in developing countries is discharged into rivers and streams without any treatment. (UNDP,UNEP,World Bank, and the World Resources Institute, "World Resources 2000-‐2001," pg. 25-‐26)
