The Spartan Youth Jazz Orchestra (SYJO) is a large ensemble for middle school-age students with 1+ years experience on an instrument:

Saxophone • Trumpet • Trombone • Electric Bass Double Bass • Drums • Guitar • Piano

Other non-traditional jazz instruments welcome!

Led by jazz artist and educator, Sean Dobbins, SYJO focuses on learning about the history of jazz and and how to play it, through fun and unique methods such as:• Scale Games • Technique• Improvisation • Performances at Aretha’s Jazz Café, Cliff Bell’s, and CMS-Detroit
