The frozen lake surfaces ofRainy, Kabetogama, Namakan, SandPoint, Mukooda and Little Trout lakes,and the Locator Chain of Lakes areopen to snowmobile travel.Snowmobiling is not allowed on theland surface with the exception ofthe marked and groomed safetyportage trails and the Chain of Lakesscenic trail.

Obey speed limits - 25 mph onsafety portages and 45 mph on trails.Staked and groomed trails on the

lake surfaces are checked for icedepth. Ice ridges are marked withtwo orange caution stakes. Use cau-tion when traveling off groomedtrails. Watch for slush and ice pres-sure ridges. Obey signs on the lakesurface that may indicate areas post-ed as closed for public safety,wildlife, or other management rea-sons.
