The first thunder stroke in this season symbolizes the new beginning.

We are awaiting the storm and the spring rainfall which givesnew powers to the Earth. Tiny brooks turn into running streams

and so the blood in our veins begins to circulate faster.

We do not know where we came from and we do not know

where we are going, the only fact which is certain is our birth,

the explosion of energy which will grow and grow every dayand which we must use in the best way we can.

We revel in life; the opportunity of acting

and creating delights us in itself.Let us rejoice then, let us jump over bonfires and drinking mead

watch garlands of flowers thrown by maidens floating away ..

With the accompaniment of singing and dancing,

we can smell the scent of smoked herbs given off the bonfires.

Mother Earth is flourishing. The Sun is powerful and the life is in its fullness!

The time comes for us all to wonder about the fruits of our work.

We judge how much we have done

and how many chances we wasted. The time of harvest sets in, the time of payment

    for our effort and hardships.

With wisdom gained from experience and with our achievements,

we will still go ahead. We will share the harvest with our Gods,

for they have endowed us so generously.

Have you ever put lit candles on your deceased ancestors graves?

If you have, than whether intentionally or not,

you performed a pagan ritual. We came into being for our ancestors had wanted so.

As long as candles are lit on our

ancestors tombs and as long the memory of our ancestors is alive,

theRodo will last, and so will ourZadruga and nation.

We sacrifice the gifts on burial mounds, under oaks and in stone circles. We must not forget.

    Szczodry Wieczor

    Darkness has surrounded us.

Yet, in numb hands we hold the seeds of existence. Our aim is to carry them safely to the light,

which will last longer and longer from now on.

We shall have more faith then,

for the essence of faith is hope that the eternal wheel of life,

which is permanently going round, will create a new better form of what the life has been so far.

At this special night we will share a communal

meal with ourzadruga, the intimacy of which warms our hearts

and allows us to survive the winter.

    Slavic Faith Beliefs

We believe in Slavic Gods. We believe in wisdom, goodnessand beauty hidden under their countenances. Slavic Gods are

the founts of life, power and happiness. Belief in our Gods isthe heritage which we continue.

Slavic Gods, worshipped for millennia are the most beautifulimages of the Divine Power and closest to our hearts. The

Gods create a hierarchized, multi-personal, mutuallycomplementing order. The order which emerged from chaos.

We believe that Gods give meaning to our existence, webelieve they protect the actions of our grandfathers, our actionsand that of our children and grandchildren from beingforgotten. The most valuable things will be passed on and willexist in the eternal cycle of reviving life.

We assume that the death of a man ends certain stage. It is thecondition of the transformation into a new form of existence. Itis a shed of the old, exhausted form. The noble and persistentones will be rewarded with entering into continuously higherand higher levels of existence, more conscious, moresignificant and closer to Gods.

The knowledge of mankind has not reached the level which

would allow to determine the essence of the universe, yet weare conscious of its constant growth. Now we can become a

part of this growth. Permanent progress fills our life withmeaning and endows us with faith in survival of our actions.

We practice harsh ethical rules. We live properly, honestly andnobly. We condemn laziness, cowardice, recklessness andhypocrisy. The most villainous for us is treason.

We are the enemies of meanness, and most of all we condemnlack of will to overcome it. We propagate the things which arethe best in us. We bear responsibility for our actions. We growand we create, for this is our destiny.

We are the defenders of our values, families and of ourcommunity. We defend the right to live on our own territory,we defend the space of our civilisation. This duty arises from

the most obvious laws of nature.

Our rituals focus on following the rhythm of nature, on findingwisdom in the laws of nature and in the divine rights present init. Our rituals cultivate the relation with our ethnic and

spiritual community. Common prayers and common meals.Homage paid to our ancestors. The obiata sacrifice made toour Gods. We bring back meaningfulness to our ancient nativefeasts.

We believe in reason, the source of human cognition. Webelieve in our powers, the reason for constant change. We

believe in the soul, the divine element in men.

Our community surrounds us with help and support. Togetherwe bring out the most valuable things in us, the only thingswhich are worth noticing.

A crooked cross, a triskelion, a circle and an even-armed crossare the symbols of Slavic faith believers, the symbols codingthe knowledge about the order of the Universe.
