• Contagious• Send to physician for treatment• Can stay in school if covered
Cellulitis
• Non contagious• Seek immediate medical treatment
Impetigo
• Spreads by itching• Caused by bacteria
Herpes
• Contagious• Called cold sores
HIV Infections (cutaneous)
• Non contagious (except by blood, bodily fluids)• Rash
Melanomas
• Non contagious• Seek immediate medical treatment
Scabies
• Contagious• Treat as you do for lice
Pediculoses (Louse)
• Contagious• Send home treat with lice shampoo and until
nit free
Acne
• Non contagious• Refer severe cases to Dermatologist
Ringworm
• Contagious• Must be covered to stay in school
Bites/Stings
• Non Contagious• Ice• Watch for allergic reactions
Child Abuse
• Always question bruises on children• Withdrawn• Frequent trips to nurse
