On the Front: This engagement photo of bride and groom, Stephanie Althoff and Michael Onyun, was shot in Downtown Decatur around Goods Warehouse. We love the contrast of the couple’s summery clothes against the grunge whitewashed building. On the Back: The newly married couple shared a kiss in Fairview Park while their bridal party took watch on the bridge. $25,000This budget doesn’t necessarily reflect the fee your particular vendors will require. After meeting with vendors, you must identify what your priorities are and reallocate your budget to fit your wants. Budget maintenance is the least fun partof wedding planning, but it should be given the utmost attention. All couples have a number they want to stay under; it’s up to you (or your planner) to make it happen!
Blend more expensive elements with
cost-effective alternatives
Don’t have enough money for that
gorgeous overlay or linen? Utilize the overlay on half
or a third of the tables and introduce a coordinating
runner on the remaining tables. Design your
centerpieces that way, too. Your guests’ eyes will
immediately see the pops where you splurged, and
the alternative tables will coordinate nicely and
make the design look intentional.
That Eye Sore Is A Money PitDon’t waste money covering up
what you think may be an “eye
sore” at your reception. When you
try to cover up a spot you think
detracts from the space, you’ll only
draw eyes toward. Spend money on
what you want the guests to focus
on, and the spot will disappear. Think Beyond yourColor Scheme
When you go with a full-blown theme, you can incorporate unusual elements into your décor, allowing you to get more creative in your design. For example, with a garden or nature theme, you can utilizeelements found in yourbackyard. Going for a vintage theme? Utilize your family’s antiques or scope out garage sales and thrift stores to find great vintage pieces.
Splurge on the Guest Experience Resist the temptation to splurge on your dress
or the flowers and skimp on the entertainment, food and/or bar. It is your day, but ultimately
you want your guests to have a great time and be talking about your wedding for months.
During the planning process, put yourself in their shoes before you take money from one area to
fund another.

Real Weddings:
Sam Blankenship
and Kyle Janvrin
March 23rd, 2013
Mt. Zion Convention Center
With a gorgeous spring day, Sam’s chiffon coral gowns were the
perfect choice for the bridesmaids
Sam’s Allure Bridal gown and jewelry were all about vintage fIair... (gown from
Michelle’s Bridal and Tuxedo)...while Kyle opted for a more modern and casual look of a grey suit sans the jacket.
(Suits from Seno’s Formal Wear)
Sam and Kyle wanted a ceremony and reception that married Kyle’s love of everything modern and Sam’s dream
of a vintage style wedding
10
Sam wanted a bouquet with shades of coral and white with a little looseness and whimsy in the shape. An
Affair To Remember designed her bouquet with ranunculus, garden roses and peony tulips for lots of texture and color.
The couple made their getaway in the family’s Model T, which is a Janvrin family tradition. Transportation truly doesn’t get more vintage!
Starting out with a foundation of white overlays and grey and white damask runners on a linen fabric gave a fIirty, vintage fIair that was casual while the ultra-modern, oversized square charger plates and coral
napkins kept it looking fresh. Modern glassware was used for a variety of blooms in peaches, corals and
ivories for a minimalist vibe.
An Affair To Remember assisted Sam and Kyle with their fIowers and décor.

Notes
• Be thoughtful and choose items that fit your lifestyle • Choose several places so your guests have options• Choose items within several different price ranges• Never include registry information in your invitation. However, it is acceptable for your bridal shower host to include that information in the shower invitation.
Your RegistryWhen to Get Them Out:
a. Engagement & Showers –
within 2-3 weeks b. Gifts sent before the wedding
- ASAP; certainly before the
weddingc. Gifts given the day-of up to three monthsd. Gift given after the wedding
- within 2-3 weeksWhat to Say:
a. Be gracious and sincereb. Mention the gift by name
c. Refer to how you’ll use it
d. Express appreciatione. For $, never state the amount,
but, do mention that it was a
monetary gift and how you
plan to use it
Thank You
Notes
Etiquette FAQs
1. RSVP Immediately. Don’t wait. Your hosts are waiting to know if they
should expect you a.k.a. pay for you as caterers and other venues need a
head count in advance.
2. Respect the Invitation. Your invitation will be addressed to those who
were invited. If it is addressed “Mr. and Mrs. John Smith”, no, your children
are not invited. Restrain yourself from asking your host if they can come
and never write in their names or additional quantities beyond the
number of guests addressed in the invitation
3. Send a gift. If you’ve received a formal invitation, whether you choose
to attend the ceremony or not, you should send a gift. It is a myth that
you should spend what the bride and groom are spending per guest. The
amount you spend should be based on your budget, how close you are to
the couple and what you think is an appropriate gift.

Pearls of WisdomWords of advice if local brides could do it all over again...
Ashley For a stress free wedding experience,
give yourself enough time to plan and find out exactly what you want and how to make that fit into your budget. No matter what, your day is going to be absolutely amazing! If things do get stressful take a step back, figure out what your priorities are, make sure to keep an open
mind about alternatives, and breathe. Also, more than half of the things that you need to
do can be handled by someone else i.e. a professional wedding planner!
Katelyn Remember this day, always. Never forget the reason for a wedding. It’s about the marriage. Brides are worried about the perfect dress, the correct wording and design on the invitations, flowers, decorations, music, and the most delicious cake. There are only 2 things that matter that day - the bride and groom. No matter what, the wedding will be perfect because you are marrying your best friend. Relax and take it all in because the day goes by fast!
NicoleDon’t procrastinate.
Do things as far in advance as possible
to keep the weeks closest to the big day
as stress free aspossible.

Lacemason jars
sprayed
Here are some easy Do-It-Yourself projectsto make personal, inexpensive decorations
for your special day!
What To Do:1. Cut out your strip of lace andsecure it with tape creating aband around the jar.*
2. Once you have the lace inplace, spray the jar entirely with
whatever spray paint you select.*
3. Remove the lace right after you spray paint, this way the lace
doesn’t stick itself to the jar while it
is drying. Allow 20 minutes to dry.
4. Add a candle inside to illuminate
the beautiful lace design or flowers
for a vase.
*DIY Tip:Make sure lace is tightly secured around the mason jar—this will ensure the design will come through the paint.
*DIY Tip:A light mist of paint is best to avoid
dripping to run through lace design.
What You Need: Tape Scissors Mason Jar Spray Paint
*DIY Tip:We used scrapes of lace found lying around. Thicker more detailed lace that is wider would have made a better impact and a cleaner look.
24
What To Do:1. Take your picture frame and coat it with your selected spray paint. We used gold to stay within the theme.
2. While your frame is drying, use your needle nosed pliers to remove any pins or earring backs from your costume jewelry. This gives the jewelry a flat surface to better adhere to the frame.
3. Design time! Lay out all of your jewelry and begin grouping together by style, color and texture. This helps organize what pieces you want to use for each frame to maximize the overall look.
4. Hot glue several pieces of costume jewelry onto your frame. We de-signed some with both corners or one heavily designed corner. Get cre-ative and pair pieces that look good together until you get a look you like!
5. After your frames are sparkling to your liking use your scrapbook paper to print your table numbers; choose a font that convey the style of your wedding.
6. Slide your decorative table numbers into your frames and you will find your once plan picture frame to be a dazzling addition to your table décor!
Vintage Glamtable numbers
What You Need: Picture Frame – we found ours at IKEA Spray paint, in color of your choice Costume Jewelry (we used brooches/earrings) Glue Gun Needle nosed pliers Scrapbook paper in color/pattern of your choice

It was all about Vintage luxe for this shoot! Gaitros Aviation was a perfect location as the backdrop for
our “Mile High” Style Shoot. We chose a champagne satin linen to off set the stunning antique ivory rosette overlay. We added elements in champagne, ivory, silver and gold for an eclectic look. Pairing mercury glass vases and votives with our gold candelabras
and candle holders, gave this tablescape asophisticated look that was all about vintage glam.
Kellie Penn from Across the Miles Photography“I love when brides think outside the box and choose unique spots for photos on their wedding day! It truly makes their images unique and stand out from the crowd!” 27
Cami was stunning in a gorgeousAllure champagne colored gown from
Michelle’s Bridal & Tuxedo. Detailed backs are all the rage this season. The delicate lace cut out on this gown is a showstopper. A custom rhinestone and
pearl comb perfectly enhanced her updo styled by Megan Bolerjack from
Headlines Salon and Spa.
With this extensive centerpiece the florals shouldn’t be overdone. We chose simple white
hydrangea to help pull in ivory napkins and candles while the delicate pearl and silver garland draped about pulled in the silver of the mercury glass and completed the look.

Kari Kileen Custom Invitations“Custom stationary completes your vision from the save-the-dates and the invitations to the

Cami’s makeup, done by expert make-up artist Katie Fucinari of

PANTONE
Fashion Color Report
Spring 2013fashion
Accessories:It’s your day to shine. From the dress to the
jewels, amp up the glam with a vintage
inspired headpiece or jewelry. The roaring
20’s and 30’s with a modern twist is a must
try trend. Embellished with lace or pearls
and ornate jewels, there is an accessory to
make each bride timeless.
Gowns:For the fashionistas who love trying the latest
trends, the high-low cut is for you. For the
brides who want that dramatic feature that is
both romantic and sexy, look for a gown with a
detailed back. It will wow your guests throughout
the ceremony while you’re taking your vows.
Patterns will be hot this year. From chevron to stripes and evenpaisley and polka dots, adding pattern to your linens, invitations or bridal party attire will take your décor to the next level!
Mix and Match – Don’t be afraid to mix it up this year! Tabletop designs will involve lots oflayering with props, patterns and textures. Metallics will be all
the rage this year so bring in the glitz and the glam with rich golds, pewters and silvers!
Vintage Glam and TraditionalElegance – Last year we saw brides roll up their sleeves for truly DIY décor. While that trend isn’tgoing away, 2013 brides will draw inspiration from old world glamour
with influences like “The Great Gatsby” and “Downton Abbey” and turn to professionals to achieve an upscale application. With more
decadent fabrics, ornate lace details, metallics and costume jewelry, receptions will begin to become more formal again.
