tors for the GeoPark arrived,Dr. N. Zouros from Greece andDr. A. Hilario from Spain aswell as Dr. Eleanor Haine-Bennett observer,CanadianGeoparks network.

However, it is important toreport on the evaluators visitto Cumberland areas.
They were transported toParrsboro where two stayedat the Maple Inn and one atthe Sunshine Inn. On Friday,26 July we began with an
opening session scheduledfor 1 1/2 hours however thiswent for 2 plus hours so therewent our schedule – off lilteron the first evening. We trans-ferred to Partridge Island inthe vehicle donated byAtlantic Kia, thanks Jason. Asmudging ceremony was per-formed and a short walkingtour. Transferring to FORCE
for a short briefing and lunch.Then we had an overview
of Cliffs of Fundy territory byhelicopter organized by Dr.John Calder and Department ofLands and Forestry. ThanksJohn. This was the WOW factorDr. Zouros mentioned at theopening session. We flew westto end Cape Cignecto and theneast to Apple River Lighthouseand then across to Ile Hautewhere we touched downbriefly. The helicopter contin-ued east to Five Islands /Economy area and the falls. Theevaluators were amazed by thesights and geological features.
A brief stop at ParrsboroCreative was followed by din-ner at Black Rock Bistrowhere MP, Bill Casey and ToryRuston our MLA as well as 2geologists David and GeorgiaPiper joined us. We trans-ferred to the hall for ourstakeholders welcome event,where Robert Moore the MC,briefly told us what was beingpresented and then a wonder-ful performance from theindigenous community led byCathy Martin who told storiesof her family and ties to thelocal area. Very moving. Nativedances followed, equallyimpressive!

GeoPark Several Cumberland “WOWS”
The Cumberland Energy Authority,Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy(FORCE) and Parrsbourgh Shore HistoricalSociety have partnered to offer aRenewable Energy Education Program(REEP) aimed at all levels of primary andsecondary schools in Cumberland County.
REEP offers support for classes to travelto Ottawa House by-the-Sea Museum andthe FORCE Visitor Center to see renewableenergy applications and projects inCumberland County.
“This program was intended to supportclassroom objectives while showcasingthe opportunities right here inCumberland,” said FORCE facilities manag-er, Sandra Currie.
The program was designed to compli-ment curriculum for students in primarythrough grade 12 as a full day field trip.Attendees learn first-hand experiencesabout the history, geology, environmentand
innovative science that is abundant inParrsboro and Cumberland County.
“Partnering with FORCE to providesuch a well-rounded approach to schoolfield trips is an easy decision. Education is
such an important driver in environmentalstewardship,” added Rennie Bugley, chairof the board of directors of theCumberland Energy Authority.
The Cumberland Energy Authority is aproject of the Municipality of Cumberland,intent on setting the standard of leader-ship in local government for the develop-ment of renewable energy, support of theprogressive energy industry and theencouragement of a sustainable future forour communities.

(NSBI)has approved a businessdevelopment incentive in theform of an innovation rebateof $2,135,000 upon comple-tion of its project, based oneligible capital spending of$8,540,000.
To be considered for aninnovation rebate, a compa-ny’s total project costs mustbe between $2 million and$15 million. An approvedrebate is up to 25 per centagainst eligible project costs.
