well; thank you for all your hard work, focus and dedi-cation. We have started this year, July 1, without the challenge of awaiting special initiative projects and having to share annual bank and CFMC resources to cover pending contract awards. We have turned around the cost of implementation for C2C DME as well as well on our way to stabilize our CE contract productivity. As a result, our first month of this fiscal year provides a contri-bution to reserves of $138,732.87. This is a great place to start and the future is bright. So what else is coming? It appears that QIS/AS will be expanding to enjoy the 2nd floor based on actual and anticipated contract awards. It appears that Review Ser-vices will absorb most of the southern half of the 1st floor. This transition is scheduled to be completed by the last part of September. So, dust will be flying, a variety of staff will be reviewing floor plans and staking out prime locations, to be peacefully negotiated among the inter-ested parties. Our QMS, Fiscal and IT ser-vice areas are participating
Welcome to September, the ninth calendar month of the year. While it is CFMC’s 3rd month of our Fiscal year (July 1-June 30), it is the 11th month of our Federal Gov-ernment’s fiscal year (October 1-September 30). That means for all of you, who have worked so hard on cranking out polished responses to Federal pro-curements, gnashing teeth in frustration in yet to be received responses, that the contract’s office of these procurements will all of a sudden come to life and in the last two weeks of Sep-tember seek to complete all outstanding procurements before the end of their fiscal year. Now the good news is, that we have bid 17 procure-ments since we received the 10th Scope, ICPC/NCC and the first Advancing Excel-lence. Of these 17 we have successfully received 7 and are awaiting a response on 7. Those 7 have resulted in an approximate increase of 20 FTEs either through new procurements or for addi-tional work volume such as C2C’s Durable Medical Equipment. So how’s CFMC doing? Quite

Our program areas are diligently focused on meeting and ex-ceeding contract deliver-ables and where challenges exist, additional focus and resources are being utilized to meet and exceed expec-tations. Proposal Development… Linda Sample During the month of August, a pro-posal development team led by Alicia Goroski and Kim Irby devel-oped and submitted a proposal re-sponse for the Special Innovation Project “Supporting Data and Com-munities”, referenced internally as the "BOB" project. This proposal re-sponse was ready for submis-sion two days prior to the proposal due date to CMS... Great job!
We have now had several opportu-nities to utilize the new proposal development process. We continue to refine our process, tools/templates and supporting roles/responsibilities from the candid and very valuable feedback received through the debrief meetings con-ducted following proposal submis-sions. We welcome your continued feedback to ensure we are. In addition to the debrief meetings,
during the month of September, we will be developing specific metrics in order to begin evaluat-ing our proposal development process with the goal of ensuring we are providing a process and tools/templates to help improve efficiencies and create value for you and CFMC. An update with defined metrics will be provided in the October, 2012 CFMC News-letter. Today we will be holding our first Brown Bag session. Jolene Gurtis and Kimothy Pikor will be pre-senting and facilitating a discus-sion around the new CFMC Style & Brand Guidelines. Thank you Jolene and Kimothy for providing this value added session for our proposal development stake-holders. As a quick reminder, the Proposal
Development Process webpage can be accessed through Qual-ity Central by clicking on "About CFMC" and then clicking on the "Proposal Development Process" link. The webpage in-cludes links to the 10 and 20 day process timelines, roles and responsibilities of proposal de-velopment stakeholders as well as the documents and forms available to support proposal development. In addition, un-der "Resources" on the web-page, the CFMC Style Guide referenced above is available.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or sug-gestions. Our Proposal Devel-opment Process Optimization Team welcomes your feedback!

The 7 Psychological Se-crets of Great Customer Service: Customer service is the new battleground for organiza-tional success, but most cus-tomer service stinks because companies don’t understand the psychology of their cus-tomers. In this webinar, learn cutting-edge customer service techniques from sciences like psychology and behavioral economics. Learn how one unexpected gesture can give your customers a “wow” ex-perience, why paraphrasing the words of angry customers can make them absolutely fu-
emotional connection to your staff, why beginning conver-sations with questions like “how are you doing today?” can anger 40% of your cus-tomers and three questions that every customer wants you to answer. You’ll also learn how to use “emotional intelligence” instead of fake-sounding scripts, how to apologize to a customer and win back their loyalty, and four questions you should insert into every customer service satisfaction survey. Recently I took an Office Ergonomic course from The Hartford. I was able to
learn a lot of useful information that I will apply to all our staff in the coming
weeks. As we prepare for new employees and the move, I will be setting up a
presentation schedule that all CFMC employees should attend along with
packets of information that I will hand out to everyone. For those people who
are not going to be moving in the next couple of months, please let me know if
you would like me to stop by and do a current check up on you. The whole
process will take 15 minutes. If you do not want to be rechecked, I will need
you to sign a waiver stating that you have chosen not to have an ergo check
done. It would still be a good idea to attend the presentation in case you have
any questions. An email with the sign-up sheet will go out later in September
and we will have as many trainings as needed.
Thanks to John B and the team of people who picked up the new chairs for us!
We use to have Yoga classes in
the Planning room a few years
back and it was a lot of fun to do
during our lunch break. This is
great for all levels and people.

Sara come to CFMC please talk
to Lisa Helseth or call her at 303-

have these classes offered again
here at CFMC this fall...

Good To Know: Kaiser Health Info
Summer passes by so
quickly, and before we
know it, children are back
to school. This time of year
is busy for parents. Pur-
chasing school supplies,
digging sports equipment
out of the garage, buying
uniforms — the list goes on
and on!
Making sure that your chil-
dren are prepared for school
from a health and immuniza-
tion perspective is important,
too. “We want your child to
do well at school,” says Ruby
Kadota, MD, medical director
of Clinical Prevention Services

“A great school year starts
with staying healthy, so be sure that your child is up-to
-date on immunizations, gets a flu shot, and has
healthy lunches and snacks.”

From Corporate Q&C: Did you know? There is a common miscon-ception that the QMS and Q&C are one and the same. In reality they are two very dif-ferent things.
The QMS is the quality management system. The QMS is the system of proc-esses CFMC uses to run the business to ensure we
provide quality products and services, meet customer ex-pectations, contract, legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Employees at all levels were involved in creating the current QMS. Every employee in the com-pany is responsible for fol-lowing the QMS processes.
Q&C, also known as cor-porate quality and compli-ance, is the name for the department of corporate quality and compliance. Q&C, along with leader-ship, helps to ensure QMS processes are followed.

No More Lower Back Pain: by Scott Elliott were going to treat me in 6 weeks. I signed up for the program and in just two adjustments; I found myself feel-ing so much better. Not only was my lower back pain diminishing, but my energy returned and most of my en-tire positive attitude. Since starting at Atlas, I have been able to return to training for my Half and Full Marathons that are coming up without any worry of having to
take pain pills after my run or unable to complete my long runs. Through
For as long as I can remember, I have had lower back pain of some kind. I have tried so many drugs and exercise regiments that I started to believe the doctors when they said that the only way to solve this issue was to have my lower back fused together. Since I currently have both Ankylosing Spondilitus and Degenerative Disc Dis-order, they could not see any other option in my future. That type of pain wears on you everyday to the point where you do not notice how negative you become because of the constant annoyance of being uncomfortable. I have seen chiropractors before as well as well as acupuncturists, but nothing worked for long term and I was finding myself back on heavy meds like Hydrocodone. When Atlas Personal Wellness came to CFMC for our staff appreciation day in July, they were able to show me another way out. For $35 I was able to see exactly what the issue was and how they
their correction of my lower back, I will only have to go back for check-ups once my six weeks are up. I will miss having a massage once a week but I know that I will not have to have surgery as long as continue to do the exercise at home and show up for my follow up appointments. Anyone who has been faced with
shoulder, lower back, neck or any
spinal problems; I would highly rec-

their offer and get the necessary help
that WORKS. I cannot say enough
nice things about how you will be
treated by the wonderful staff and
how you will feel once you walk out
of their office. I am feeling young and
a new me all at once, and I have to
say that it is a wonderful feeling…

CFMC’s 13 Behaviors: #4 Right Wrongs Opposite:
To deny or justify wrongs, to rational-
ize wrongful behavior.
Right Wrongs:
Make things right when you’re wrong.
Apologize quickly. Make restitution
where possible. Practice “service re-

mility. Don’t cover things up. Don’t
let personal pride get in the way of
doing the right thing.
Counterfeit:
“Covering up”, disguising, trying to
hide mistakes instead of repairing
them, failing to admit mistakes
until forced to do so, being hum-

conscience.
