Safety instructions:The devices are not to be used for applications wherepersonal safety is dependent on their function.
Do not look into the transmitter! Its possible, that highlyconcentrated non visible infrared light is emitting out ofthe transmitter STB..., which can be hazardous to thehuman eye. So you have to follow the safety precautionsgiven in IEC 60825-1.

3Compact Light BarrierPantron Instruments has been developing and manufacturingsensors for automation technology for over 25 years. Pantronproducts are outstanding in their features and offer the best solutionfor customers with special requirements and in most demandingapplications. Pantron sensors are internationally successful state-of-the-art products made in Germany.
The compact light barriers were specially developed for areasof application in which traditional photo-electric sensors reachtheir limits. Extreme dirt resistance and a long range make themparticularly suitable for most difficult applications. The systemshigh power guarantees excellent penetration, even in the caseof extreme contamination. Chips, dust, flour, oil or muddy waterare no longer an obstacle. They are perfectly suitable for use inthe timber and paper industry, in car wash systems, for controlbulk material, in elevators, for outdoor gate control, in the foodprocessing industry and in many other applications.
Each system consists of a transmitter and a receiver, availableseparately in very compact and robust designs. Thanks to their
large field of view, they canbe easily aligned even at di-stances of 40 meters. Si-multaneously they areinsensitivite to shock and vi-brations and the resolutionof the misalignment.
The simple installation of the transmiiter and receiver as well as theuncomplicated handling of the devices emphasize the high userfriendliness.
The sensors can be mounted according to different operating prin-ciples as required:
Through beam Retro reflective Diffuse proximity

Ambient light immunityAmbient light is the light from other light sources . The light immu-nity is the maximum allowed illumination level from other light sour-ces beyond that which is normally received from the receiver, whichwill allow the system to work safely.
Dark modeOn dark mode the PNP-Output will switch to operation voltage, when no light comes on the receiver. This is the equivalent of nor-mally open with through beam or retro reflective light barriers andto normally closed with diffuse proximity light barriers.
Infrared lightInfrared light is described as a radiation with a wavelength from780 nm up to 1500 nm. Above this level is visible light.
Light barrierA light barrier is an arrangement from one or more light transmit-ters which one or more light receivers is illuminated by a light beam. The changing of the illumination will be converted to a electricalsignal.
Light modeIn light mode the PNP-Output will switch to operation voltage, when light illuminates the receiver. This is the equivalent of nor-mally closed with through beam or retro reflective light barriers andto normally open with diffuse proximity light barriers.
Light proximityA light proximity is a arrangement from one or more light transmit-ters which illuminate an object. The light which reflects from the ob-ject will be received from one or more light receivers. The changingof the reflective light will be converted to a electrical signal.
Maximum rangeThe maximum range is the maximum usable distance between trans-mitter and receiver of a through beam light barrier. The amplifiermust be set on the maximum sensitivity and on the highest basictransmit level.
Modulated lightModulated light changes intensity with a specific frequency (seetransmit frequency)
NPN-OutputThe npn-output includes a transistor, which the load switches to theground. The load will be connected between the operation voltageand the SR-output.
Operation voltageThe operation voltage consists of a nominal voltage and a tole-rance. The specified nominal voltage is the voltage for which thedevice is designed. The tolerance is the maximum deviation fromthe nominal voltage. This information follows the voltage range, within which, the device will reliably work. To exceed or remainunder the voltage range is not advised.
PNP-OutputThe pnp-output includes a transistor, which the load switches to theoperation voltage. The load will be connected between the SR-out-put and the ground.
Protection classThe protection class describes the protection of the device againstthe touching, ingress from objects, or moisture according toEN6529. The protection name starts with the character IP (Inter-nation Protection) and the first number as an indicator for directcontact and ingress from objects. The second number is the pro-tection against water. The bigger the number is, the higher is the re-spective protection.
Push-Pull circuitThe push-pull circuit is a connection from a pnp-output and annpn-output in series. They form a common transistor output wherethe connection of the load causes one of the two outputs to be ac-tivated. Do not connect sensors with a push-pull circuit in parallel.
Reaction timeThe time between interruption or clearance of the light beam andthe change of the output status is called reaction time
Retro reflective light barrierA light barrier, where the light from the transmitter is reflected by areflector back to the receiver. Light transmitter and light receiver arearranged side by side.
Diffuse light proximityA light proximity, where light transmitter and light receiver are ar-ranged side by side.
ST-InputThe transmitter ST... has an input which can decrease or switch offthe transmit power. The transmit power can be decreased with anexternal resistor (
