• We wanted to know which wood burns quickest.

Research

• We researched that pine is most commonly used.

• We researched what type of wood we should use for the experiment.

• We researched mesquite is not common but it catches fire pretty quickly, so we used it.

• The computer said juniper is pretty common but it really isn’t used as fire wood much.

Variables

• Our independent variable is the type of wood we use.

• Our dependent variable is how quickly it catches on fire.

• The constant variables is the lighter, the room, the fireplace, the temperature, the placement of the wood, and the volume of the wood.

• The control group is the pine because it is most commonly used in homes.

Hypothesis

• Our hypothesis is pressed wood will burn out quickest.
