Objective: To provide an environment to freely worship

Golden Rule: No one should engage in anything that detracts from said “Objective” Material distractions need to be stowed Every action/activity that distracts others

from worshiping NEEDS to be corrected Address disruptions ASAP

Material distractions need to be stowed Toys, gadgets, writing utensils, books (Bibles), etc.

Disruptions need to be minimized Verbal: sounds/noises, silly verses, purposely singing

off-key, deliberately shouting, etc. Visual: funny faces, silly actions, turning around and

singing off of the lyrics on the back-wall, actions/goofing around to make light of the worship environment

Physical: pushing, shoving, bumping, changing positions/places, etc.

Innocuous: pulling hoodie/hat over face, sitting down during worship (exception is young K&1), reading

Disruptions need to be addressed as readily as possible Uncorrected disruptions implies acceptance, and is

often contagious

Your behavior establishes the “model” for proper behavior

If you don’t feel that you can serve as a “model” for the children at anytime, please excuse yourself from worship during that time

Don’t be a disruption Talking amongst teachers should be taken

outside the worship Simple greeting, OK Catching up on the past week, not OK

Avoid usage of mobile devices (phone, web, email, etc.)

Glancing at incoming text or caller ID, OK Replying incoming text, not OK Answering phone, not OK Reading email, not OK Replying email, not OK Surfing the web, not OK

Planning/organizing for class should not occur in the worship area

Purpose: minimize mean distance to disruption Makes it easer for you to notice a

disruption Enables you to quickly address an issue Proximity serves as a deterrant
