A special assembly was conducted on “World Cancer Day” on 1st February 2016 in Vidya Bharati School Assembly Ground by Pratap House students of Class-X at 08:00 am.

1) To convey the message that Cigarette Smoking is Injurious to Health. 2) To convey the message that Smoking and Tobacco are the main causes of Cancer.

Outcome :
Entire Class Participated in the Assembly (directly or indirectly) showing their teamwork and coordination, thus achieving the purpose of the assembly. The students promised to themselves to stay away from the vice as smoking.

INTER CLASS POSTER MAKING COMPETITION
Vidya Bharati School organized an Inter class Poster Making Competition for classes
VI – VIII on 4th
February 2016. The topic for VI class was „Manmade Disasters, for
VII class was „Natural Disaster‟ & for VIII class it was „Global Warming‟. All the
students participated enthusiastically displaying their artistic and creative talent in
putting forth their ideas. It was a testing time for Mr. M K Sharma, TGT Art and the
judge of the competition to select the best 3 entries from each class as all the posters
were novel & imaginative. After critical evaluation of each poster, the following

CITY FINALE QUIZ COMPETITION
Date & Venue :
An inter-school Travel Quiz Competition organized by Thomas Cook was conducted on 4th February in which all the prestigious school of Delhi and NCR participated. Over 25 renowned schools took part in quiz competition. Ten students of our school were selected for the round through written test conducted in the first round. The venue was Shri Satya Sai Auditorium, Lodhi Road

1) To open students’ mind to learning beyond classrooms. 2) To give students a wonderful exposure to the need of becoming globally and culturally aware. They should be adaptable to people across the world, tolerant be open-minded and confident to work and travel anywhere in the world.

Winners will be given a chance to free foreign travel to Switzerland along with their teachers.
Young minds from across the country came face to face as Travel Quest provided them platform to showcase their skills.
More than 5Lac students had undertaken a written test in first elimination round out of which over 8000 were qualified to appear in City Finale. Our school’s 10 brilliant stars were among these selected students.
Overall a wonderful and remarkable experience for the students.
Outcome :
Though our students couldn’t make it up to the final round but they got wonderful opportunity and an exposure to increase their knowledge and it was a morale booster experience for them.

Spellathon – 9th
February 2016
On 9th
February 2016, Spellathon activity for grade VIII & IX was organised in the school. Around
40 students participated in round 1 and 10 students were shortlisted for the second round. The
students were given a set of 20 words in first round 10 words in second round. After the final round
Himanshu Bagaria of IX A topped the list of finalists and Pallavi of IX C stood second.

Basant Panchami – the Festival of onset of spring is welcomed with great fervor
across the country. The students of Vidya Bharati too celebrated the occasion by
worshipping the goddess of knowledge – Maa Saraswati on 12th
February 2016. The
school organized a special „Havan‟ for the bright & successful future of the class XII
students. The students paid their reverence to the Almighty & their teachers to seek
their blessings. The students were offered sweets and blessed for a flourishing &
prosperous life ahead.

Career Counseling Workshop – Grade X
In class X, students are at a critical juncture of life where stream choice in class XI seems to be the
most critical decision of their life. To help the students to overcome this dilemma and guide them
about various career options open to them, VBS organised a career counseling workshop for students
of class X. It was conducted by Ms. Seema Sinha from 16th
February 2016 to 18th
February 2016.
Through PPT, the students were told about various careers in science, commerce& humanities and
eligibility criteria of admission in Grade XII and streams offered in VBS of students XI. They were
advised to take this important decision of their life with a lot of deliberation, not to get swayed by
peer pressure, accept their limitation, undertake aptitude test, be honest to self and then put heart and
soul into the stream they choose. Dreaming about success will not lead to it rather they have to work
for it with purpose and definiteness. The students‟ queries were many and they were discussed
during open house which was presided by Ms. Seema Sareen.

The students of grade X was conducted in the computer lab by Ms. Sunita Sharma & Ms. Deepti
Juneja on 16th
& 17th
February 2016. The test aimed to help the students in choosing the right stream
in XI and consequently most appropriate and promising career for themselves.

The event was hosted by grade XI to bid farewell to their seniors. The entire staff was present to
shower their blessings on the students and wished them luck not only in their Boards bur in all their
endeavors.
The highlight of the show was a note revised when the teachers blessed the students by a melodious
rendition of “shower of blessings”. This musical presentation left the students mesmerized. The
other note able events were coordinated moves in two stupendous dance performances presented by
grade XI. Ms. Anita Gupta, Coordinator Senior Secondary Wing on behalf of Principal urged and
wished the students to come out with flying colors in their board exams.
Later in the day, the guests were treated with delicacies in HI tea. Grade XII in particular enjoyed
thoroughly their last few hours in school , appeared a bit sentimental but rejoiced the fact that they
would soon step out to a new world of immense potential.

‘Khoj Bhajan Samrat Ki’
Our country is an ocean of young talent and to promote and provide a platform to the young
singers Swar Sadhna Manthan Season II was organized at Vidya Bharati School on 21st
February 2016 in association with Sri Hanuman Balaji Mahakumbh Trust. Students between
the age groups of 10-20 years had participated in the competition titled ‘Khoj Bhajan Samrat
Ki’.
The musical programme started by 11:00 a.m. A brief introduction of the trust members was
given by the anchor, which was followed by Shri Ganesh Vandana. Gayatri Mantra was
fervently recited by Dr Mohit Agarwal. A harmonious tribute to Ma Sharde was given by Mr
Prashant Survanshi and the much awaited competition started. Students from various schools
took part. Music was in the air throughout. The young maestros mesmerized the audience by
their soulful Bhajans. Some students like Arnav Shukla and Arshita of VBS performed to the
perfection. They got the direct entry into finale immediately after their performance.
The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence Dr. Mohit Agarwal , Mr Rajiv Agarwal, Mr
Prashant Suryavanshi and Mr Pulkit Patel. A great support was given from the audience
side. All 40 participants sang to their level best. They were presented the Certificate of
Participation by the judges and the winners were praised and appreciated by the judges for
their stupendous performance.
It was fascinating to witness the magnificent performances by some of the esteemed judges.
The musical evening was concluded with the Vote of Thanks by the anchor, wherein the efforts
put in by the staff and the students in making the event a grand success was appreciated.

REPORT ON FOLK DANCE
“Dance is the hidden language of the soul”
Date and venue-
In order to make the students aware of our rich cultural legacy that has been bestowed
upon us and to familiarize them with the different types of folk dances of India, a solo
folk dance competition. It was organized on 19/2/2016 in VBS by students of Grade I
& II from at 8:30 a.m. onwards.

Highlights of the Competition-
Graceful and coordinated movements of the dancers were spellbinding.
All the six sections gave scintillating folk dance performances.
The small wonders of our school came dressed in bright, colourful costumes with
cheerful faces.
Folk dances presented were „Navana‟ dance of Bengal, „Kalbeliya‟ of Rajasthan,
„Bamboo‟ dance of Mizoram, „Bhangra‟ of Punjab, „Lavani‟ of Mahrasthra,
„Garhwali‟ of Uttaranchal and „Dandhiya‟ of Gujarat etc.
Analysis
The venus resonated with mesmerizing dances and its lively folk music. It was indeed
a treat to watch the enthralling performances of the enthusiastic dancers.
The vibrant folk dance of „bhangra‟, the beautiful traditional dance of „Onam‟ and the
enthusiastic garba and dandiya dance of Navratri left the audience asking for more
such performances.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON ‘NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY’

A special assembly was conducted on “National Science Day” on 26th February 2016 in VBS assembly ground by the students of grade IV-A at 0800 a.m.

Agenda :
1) To spread a message about the significance of scientific applications in the daily life of the people.
2) To make the students aware about the contribution, efforts and achievements of Indian scientists in the field
of science for human welfare .

Highlights :
Presentation was well planned and rehearsed. Anchors were well prepared.
Ms Savita Sharma updated the students regarding the purpose of celebrating ’National Science Day’ in her Teacher’s talk.
A detailed and interesting presentation on the contribution of Indian Scientists was given by Grade IV-A students. Students attired as Aryabhatt, CV Raman, APJ Abdul Kalam, Homi Bhabha, Jagdish Chandra Basu etc made the presentation extremely effective.
A melodious song depicting the bright future of country was also sung by students.
News for the day was covered (national, international and sports ).
Quiz Questions were asked from the students of Grade I-V. The Quiz Questions were searched with deliberation and were class appropriate.
Birthday buddies were wished.
Best dressed student were also appreciated.
Outcome :
Around 70% of the students participated. There teamwork and dedication made this special assembly a successful event.
